Driving home from work on a Thursday at and average of around 65 mph the vehicles RPM's jumped up to 4,000 and it was like it down shifted. I stopped immediately to check for problems and there weren't any visible signs. I proceeded home while the vehicle was stuck in a gear causing me to only travel a max of 45mph. I contacted Chrysler which said there was a recall for my make, model, and year vehicle but my VIN number was not included in the recall.

I had my car in park, waiting in line at a drive thru. When I tried to put it in drive, it would not shift out of park. I called aaa and the tow truck operator came. Upon hearing the issue, he immediately told me he knew what it was because "he deals with this all the time with 3000's and Pacificas...and it's a recall issue). He lifted the trim around the gear box and showed me that the "red clip" had broken. I have not seen a recall for this issue, but I need to know if Chrysler is honoring this defect, which I've been told is a huge problem with different Chrysler vehicles.

I was in the bank drive thru with my car in park. I went to put the car into drive and it wouldn't shift out of park. I called aaa and when the tow truck man arrived and I told him what the problem was, he told me he knew exactly what had happened...the red clip inside the gearshift box had broken. He said it happens all the time to Pacificas and 3000S and it's a factory recall issue. He was able to get it into gear for me so I could drive home, but it is broken and won't shift out of park (without trying his temporary "fix"). I came home and went online to search the recall (because I don't remember ever getting a recall letter) and I can't find anything. Based on what this driver told me, this is an ongoing issue with certain Chrysler cars (including mine) and should be a manufacturer's recall.

Pacifica 6-cyl

  • 62,123 miles
We have had multiple issues with this vehicle since we purchased it. First issue was the cv boots that had completely disintegrated. This occurred 62,123 miles. Next issue that is still occurring today and deeply concerns me is that the accelerator pedal sticks from time to time. Not sure what causes that to happen but it scares the living day lights out of me on a weekly basis. Shortly after that the check engine light came on and the panel read gascap. Well we bought a new gas cap and the issue was not resolved. Since then we were told it was the fuel pump that needed to be replaced. Again, more money out of our pocket so unfortunately we have not had the repair done since we don't have the money to pay for it. Next and biggest issue off all is that while driving down our street I heard a noise that concerned me. When I got home there was a tapping under the hood, the tapping has been continuous since then. The original mileage at that time was 85,625 miles. After multiple trips to several different mechanics it has been diagnosed as a tapping lifter. Well this is a very very expensive repair. So easiest thing for us to do is to trade in our car....not the case. Our car now has no trade-in value because of the lifter issue. I am beside myself and I firmly believe that these are all issues that Chrysler should address under warranty. The maintenance on our vehicle is done on a regular basis to avoid issues like this. I feel quite cheated by Chrysler and wish I could request a refund for all of the repairs we have had to do while owning this vehicle.

The vehicle was purchased June 11, 2013 and had the rear passenger tire replaced due to unfix-able flat tire. The dealer had me take vehicle to peerless tires co. The tire was replaced with wrong size and different brand of tire. Traveling during thunderstorm approximately 3,5 weeks after purchasing vehicle; the computer appeared to lock when vehicle slipped on pavement as AWD attempted to engage causing loss of steering and power then skidded off the road. I made claim through my insurance and had vehicle inspected by local shop, and I had my mechanic look to see if damage to vehicle was noticeable was not handling correctly after accident. When accelerates or decelerates the vehicle will lunge forward. Took vehicle to peerless tire co. After mechanic pointed out the wrong size and model of tire on rear passenger side of vehicle. After accepting fault wanted to take vehicle to [xxx] paint and body to pay for the repairs. When the estimate was being done and vehicle was on lift...[xxx] and mechanic pointed out the whole motor carriage had completely rusted out and corroded. They had not seen anything like it. Took vehicle back to dealer and explained this issue. Had to go ahead with insurance claim and wait for adjustors to determine fault of accident.the vehicle is totally unsafe to drive, feels like the engine is tipping forward when accelerating or decelerating. After researching this issue im shocked and appalled that 2 previous model years have same issues which are not being addressed for the 2006. I don't want this vehicle repaired I want out from under it, since it was sold unsafe and is a recurring problem even after having motor mounts replaced and undercarriage treated or replaced. I expect more from mopar period. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

The gear shift on the center console will not come out of park. I went out to start the car to go to work and the car would start up, but I couldn't shift out of park. I removed the trim to expose the quick release button and that didn't work either. After researching the issue, I've found that a lot of people with Chrysler Pacifica's have experienced this issue. I called a couple of dealerships and they had just received cars that very day with the same issue. I also learned that Dodge's have been experiencing this same issue and a recall has been issued on them. I am writing so that this issue can be investigated further and a recall issued.
