Vehicle gear shift stuck in park even though brake is depressed. Tried rocking the vehicle back and forth to see if it was stuck in gear, no change. I conducted an internet search for this problem and found that several Chrysler and Dodge products have this exact same problem. Cause: A small pink piece of plastic that has a spring attached to it, which is a gear locking mechanism, tends to break at about 40-60 thousand miles or sooner. There are no Chrysler recalls for this item. The piece seems to cost about $2 for Chrysler to make however, one will pay $300-$400 or more for the dealer to fix. Takes minutes to replace if you know what you are doing. One can find the part online and replace with metal so that it will not break again for about $50. Chrysler complaint line states that they will not fix unless nhtsb files a recall complaint. Then I may get reimbursed for my cost. The pink plastic piece can break at any time leaving the driver stranded anywhere at any time, e.g. the drive thru., parking structure at night, etc..

This last Friday, the 11/18/11, was the last incident where it finally stalls completely and I have to move out of traffic. For over a month now, the gas gauge has dropped to zero (when I know I have gas in there) so I have to keep up with that on the side, the electrical trip mileage gauge says gas cap, checked it, kind of jittery, where it would jerk and not accelerate on the road, until this last Friday when I turned a corner, and it just stalled. Started it up, and went down the road and as soon as I accelerated in oncoming traffic, it stalled again, pulled off the road towards oncoming traffic and sat for a moment, gentleman stopped to help me, and said it might be overheating, to turn my heater on and leave it running since I still had several miles to go to get home and everyone was gone at the house. So I turned it back on and heated it up and away I went, got about a mile and it stalled again, so I went on the shoulder and coasted for about another mile and started it up and coasted it again, 'til I got to our small town and started it up, went to take a corner, and it stalled on the corner, so I coasted a bit again, and started up, and went down about a mile, put into neutral (so not to use gas and accelerate) around the corner and went down about another mile, put into neutral again, took the corner, back into drive and down the road to the house, took another turn in neutral, and coasted into the drive way. I've noticed that there is a recall with 2006 Chrysler Pacifica for the fuel pump and control module with power train. According to www.motortrend.com recall id#57629 powertrain:at:control module (tcm, PCM). It is sitting and want it fixed as soon as possible before me driving with the kids in the car and I can't make it out in an intersection because of a problem with Chrysler and their parts/recall. Otherwise, I'll look into legal action.

While driving my Pacifica at 60 mph the vehicle suddenly jerked and the check engine light came on and the engine was revving high so I slowed down and it was tacking at 6000 RPM while only going 40 mph. I stopped and turned the engine off. When I restarted it shifted normally. A few days later it did it again. Then it did it twice in one day. I took it to Chrysler and they said there was internal damage and they wanted $1000 just to drop the transmission before they fixed anything.this occurred when the vehicle had 80000 miles on it. When it only had 36000 miles the engine threw a rod and I had to spend $3000 for a new engine. I've since learned that Pacifica's burn a quart of oil about every 1000 miles. I would have checked the oil more often had I known this. I traded it in rather then replace the transmission. But not on a Chrysler.

On April 13, 2011, while driving vehicle at approximately 10 mph and while making a left turn, vehicle suddenly stopped abruptly resulting in a vehicle stall. All electrical power was lost, along with engine stalling. Restarted vehicle and proceeded to drive again when it then suddenly started to drive rough for approximately a couple of seconds, as if it again wanted to stall, but didn't. after this, the vehicle drove normal. Took vehicle to pepboys on the same day and they diagnosed a 420 and a 700 fault code. On Thursday April 14, 2011 took vehicle to alliance Chrysler dealer in ft. Worth, tx. I explained what had happened and mentioned that my vehicle experienced the same symptoms described in the PCM/fuel pump recall issued against 2006 Pacificas. I also mentioned that this recall did not cover my vehicle which they confirmed. However, I raised concerns on whether the recall applicability needed to be expanded to cover other Pacificas. The dealer has yet to figure out the problem besides telling me that they confirmed a 420 and 700 fault code which they stated would require me to replace the catalytic converter and the transmission shifting solenoid. I questioned whether the sudden stall of the vehicle could have resulted in a misleading fault code. Dealer technician mentioned that the stall could have been caused by a faulty transmission solenoid. I mentioned that my vehicle had shown no indication of a transmission problem with the gear shift. Besides, if a faulty transmission shift solenoid is capable of causing a vehicle stall, then this vehicle has a serious design flaw since a stall while driving could result in serious injury or a catastrophic accident. Dealer mentioned that mechanic was unable to replicate the failure and would continue to investigate the problem and get back to me. As of April 20, 2011, dealer has been unable to explained why the vehicle stalled. I suggested they perform the 2006 PCM/fuel pump recall fix.

All motor mounts on our Chrysler Pacifica broken after only 60000 miles!!! this condition could cause an unknowing motorist an accident. Very dangerous condition. Also same vehicle had broken gear shift stranding my family for hours and could not be repaired without changing the unit. Poorly designed and a constant drain on our finances. Government owned"?"

Driving my car, no noticeable problems. I pulled into my driveway and I saw a lot of fluid on the driveway. I was extremely concerned, checked all my fluids which were ok. Took the car to the dealer and they couldn't find a problem. I then started noticing the car riding "rough" and idling rough along with a 'banging" when starting or stopping at redlights. Took the car to the local mechanic who was not told anything about these issues (there for unrelated item) and was informed I have a bad motor mount. He asked if I noticed 3 specific items.. uh.. yah... all the things I told the dealer! waiting for him to check over the entire car right now to see if anything else is wrong. (problem with the heat and I think with my suspension). Also, the heat will not stop blowing on the windshield (defrost) barely gives off heat to feet etc. Got so hot it melted the plastic on the dashboard where the defrost emits from...dealer "can not duplicate the problem" but yet all I do is turn on the car, sit there 5 minutes and try to turn the heat to anywhere other than defrost and it's blatantly obvious as you can't breathe from the amount of hot air still blowing in your face off the windshield. Currently have local mechanic looking at it. Previous local mechanic found issue but wouldn't tear the dashboard apart to figure out how to fix it. Recommended dealer as I have an extended warranty. Dealer charged $88 dollars to look at car for all above issues and said nothing is wrong... rather "can not duplicate the problem". bull!

I have a 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. Everyday it stalls on my wife and kids. It sounds like the recall they they have on the Chrysler Pacifica on the fuel pump module and power train module. I contacted the Chrysler corporation on the issue and they said that the vehicle 's VIN number was not onthe recall list. I told them how can they control which vehicle fuel pump module and power train module is bad. I told them is going to cause a deadly crash one day. All they do is give me the run around.what can I do? thanks for quick response.

One rocker arm (lifter) went out in July 09. We replaced the faulty rocker arm. Just two weeks ago, all rocker arms went out, including the one that was recently replaced. This has caused my 06 Chrysler Pacifica to not turn over and not start. Both the battery and starter have been tested and are fine. All rocker arms are now being replaced at a cost of over $1000 with only 43K miles on the vehicle. When we asked the dealership why the brand new rocker arm (lifter) had failed, they said it was because the entire mechanism with the rocker arms has a faulty design.

At 40,000 miles car started making ticking noise. Took it to my personal mechanic and he determined the lifters needed changing. Replaced the lifters then again at 60,000 miles the car had the same problem. This time I had a certified mechanic from work call a friend at the Dodge dealership and he acknowledged that Chrysler was having a problem with the lifters and that there was a repair kit available through Chrysler. I have had the car back for 2 weeks now with no problems so far. The mechanic visually confirmed that the retaining pins of the shaft were indeed sheared, thus blocking the oil galley and the flow of oil to the lifters. My opinion is why would Chrysler come out with this repair kit if there was no wide spread problem.

Upon hearing ticking noise, we took our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica into the dealer. We were told that this is a common problem caused by a broken retaining pin on the rocker arm shaft. When the pin breaks, the shaft can spin that may block oil passage the rocker arms (which causes the ticking noise). The rocker arm shafts were replaced by the dealer. Now, we are having problems involving the pedestal kit. Please look into this problem. I believe it should be recalled. Thank you, nicole schilt
