Pacifica ES 3.8L

I bought my 2007 Chrysler Pacifica only a few years ago. Ever since I have had it I had many repairs done. One very expensive repair was the front end/power steering. This occurred last year and I hear the problem occurring again. Last month I was driving my car and the engine was knocking, then it seized. This engine runs hot and was burning oil quickly but not going anywhere. Needless to say, the engine is shot and I have a 2007 Pacifica in my driveway needing a new engine. I hear this particular year had a specific engine and I also hear that this particular year had many problems. I still owe $7000.00 on this car and am I sitting on the fence in putting an engine in it, or not... I worry that a new engine will eventually have the same problems and will I just be better off to take the loss and get a new car. The quotes I am getting are between $2600.00 and $3000.00. I would sure appreciate suggestions and opinions if you know a thing or two about this car.. Thank you. Joanne J

engine locked up engine locked up engine locked up

I believe the car engine lock up which in return made the belt break an destroy the value! An investigation is being fielded! This is the worst, not only could it have hurt someone, my wife could of died. I think I got the worst of these engines failing N locking up! Please sell yours, or better yet, junk them before someone dies! These cars are a failure and they know it. I think the 2007 is turning to be the worst but yet the last reported. Good luck to whoever owns one!

Update from Dec 5, 2014: Also when the engine locks up it is breaking other parts inside the engine which was the timing belt -but did not come off but a piece of it flung off and hit a value which could not be repaired! A new engine is the only alternative ! We since then said no and traded what I could get for it and moved on. But I am filling a complaint, also the foes are on their way. Please, anyone with problems don't stop complaining, I won't until they recall it completely.

Thank you, oh yes, we saved the evidence for future talks with Chrysler.
