About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
Just bought vehicle and driving on the highway with small children when the car surged and abruptly stalled momentarily on a 60 mph hwy. Would only drive in 1at and 2nd gear and had no way to exit off highway. Almost caused a car pile up as the vehicle behind me had to stomp on brakes abruptly. Mechanics are saying transmission. I haven't even had this for a week. It was extremely unsafe and I was terrified as I had 5 little lives in the vehicle at that time.

The SUV shuts of while moving. While we are driving (in motion) the SUV will completely shut off and we have to restart it by placing it in neutral and turning the key. We have reported it to Chrysler 3 times and we have spent $900 to fix the problem but it just happened again 2 days after we picked it up from the dealership. All repairs for this SUV were done by the dealership over the life of the SUV. We were told that the SUV has not duplicated the problem while in the dealership while being repaired and they have said that the vehicle was driven over 100 miles by them without shutting off. If this is true, why did it shut off while my family was driving it 2 days after we picked it up. They are not telling the truth. We do not want to take the car back to the dealership for a 4th time for this problem until we find out what can be done. The truck is in great shape besides this problem that is extremely dangerous and scary when it happens. This is a serious safety issue. There have been other incidents of this very problem with Chrysler as well.

The vehicle was turning into parking space, acted like the traction control engaged, power steering function was lost. Vehicle was put in park, engine turned off. Restarted at that time. Owner assumed incident resulted from a slip on fresh rain concrete and resulted in traction control engagement due to sensitivity of traction control feature. This is really not necessary at < 10 mph. Second incident: One week later to the day on July 10, 2015, the vehicle rolled to a stop on residential road. The vehicle passed over an insignificant, small pile of dead loosed grass on right side of vehicle during its rolling to a stop mode. Vehicle steering locked up and engine stalled. Owner made numerous attempts to restart but had to wait 10 minutes before vehicle would restart and park it. Dealership has been notified-appointment scheduled to diagnose.

This vehicle tends to stall at or below 35 mph. Have been to independent mechanics and Chrysler and no one can seem to figure out why it stalls. When it stalls there is a loss of control of the car and is very dangerous especially when in rush hour traffic. My wife drives this vehicle along with my 3 children. I have seen numerous complaints on this matter and I am quite surprised there has not been a recall.

Several instances of stalling with absolutely no warning at approximately 40 mph. Car does start back up but stalls at random intervals. Has been seen at multiple shops with no errors, codes or problems found.

On September 15th I was taking my son to school when all of my idiot lights came on and stayed on. Once I got back home and turned the car off I noticed that something was still running. After opening the hood I realized it was my ABS system that want shutting off. I was able to disconnect the sensor but have been too fearful to drive it since then. My father ran a code checker and nothing was showing up except the fuel cap (which was replaced but still showing that warning light). He drove the car and noticed that the speedometer wasn't working.

I have had multiple issues with my 2007 Chrysler Pacifica-from the beginning a popping and clicking noise from the transmissions/results from dealership motor mounts went bad repaired several times over the years. Another issue is my car is just go dead while driving on the freeways/streets etc. I took it to the dealership and they have not been able to repair or see the issue. I know it's something wrong and this is scary driving this car.

I was driving down the street at approximately 25 miles per hour and lost the ability to accelerate. The electronic throttle control light came on. I turned the car off and back on and the car drove normally for about a mile, and then behaved the same way. I went to the dealer for an inspection a month after purchasing the vehicle because the perform service indicator was displayed, the only suggestion was to fix motor mounts. The battery died on me a week later, and now the car is losing power while I'm in traffic. The vehicle is turning into a money pit.

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Pacifica. The contact stated that her vehicle was parked with the engine on when she walked away from the vehicle. When she returned to the vehicle and turned the ignition off while the vehicle was in park it suddenly accelerated backwards into her driveway on a busy street in front of her home. She finally managed to get into the vehicle but she could not remove the keys from the ignition. She was able to gain control of the steering wheel and slow the vehicle down. When she forced the vehicle into neutral gear the vehicle made a squealing noise and continued to accelerate backwards. She had to use the manual transmission option in order to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that she sustained some abrasions and whip lash when the failure occurred. The police were not notified. The vehicle was parked in her driveway when the complaint was filed. Chrysler was not notified. The failure and current mileages were approximately 31,820.

Tried to stop at a red light from 45 mph. Car slowed to about 5 mph but would not stop. Reapplied brakes, engine accelerated (foot not on accelerator) pulled out of gear, into neutral, engine went into screaming acceleration re-engaged in "drive", engine calmed down. Episode repeated later that same night. Car returned next day when rental office was open.
