Pacifica LX 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 16,207 miles

The rollers (which Chrysler calls "hinges") that are used on the side doors began making noise which became increasingly louder every week. Even bystanders in parking lots would look over at the vehicle if I opened the doors to load something. My local dealer told me that the parts were not available at this time and would let me know when they located some new ones. A week later I had to take my Pacifica back and have them installed.

In my opinion the roller bearings should last at least 20 years - yet the ones in my vehicle were shot in less than 11 months.. That makes me wonder what I have to look forward to in the future when the warranty expires. Apparently Chrysler's "bean counters" exchanged quality for a few cents savings on design only to spend real money correcting problems. The fact that it irritates the customer and blemishes their image must not have been taken into the equation.

The new platform Pacifica could be a great vehicle but due to a few minor problems which they do not acknowledge and Chrysler's uncaring corporate attitude it would not surprise me if they drop to the bottom again. The problem is not in the repair shops - - fire corporate quality control, if you can find them... What a shame. Sell your FCAU stock before it tanks...
