Pacifica Touring-L 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 65,000 miles

Bought this van new in 7/31/17. Have had few problems until recently. At low speeds, the van will pause, make a slipping sound, then lunges forward, with a very loud clunk ( as if it's been rear ended.) My hubby took it to dealer yesterday. It's out of warranty, but we bought an extended service contract (through the dealer.) They said they found the transmission to be operating as intended. The guy told me the shifting was a safety feature and was normal. Are you kidding me? If it was normal, it would have been happening since Day 1, which it wasn't. I would not have bought the thing if it had. He kept saying we would have to pay for the diagnostic and it probably would not show a code if no lights were on during operation. Apparently the service contract is useless. Searched the Pacifica forums and found that there are service bulletins to help with the shifting, but the dealership told hubby that it would cost $135 and wouldn't be covered. The results from the reprogramming seemed to not work long term anyway, so here we sit. I've got a big family that fills this van, and I bought something new and safe to haul them around. There should be a recall on this problem, as it feels like a safety issue. Perhaps we should start a class action suit against Chrysler?

Pacifica Touring-L Plus 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 29,000 miles

Bought as 1 year old used vehicle. Klunking sound from right front end, when turning hard at slow speeds. There is a Chrysler bulletin for what sounds like this problem; my independent shop (an excellent repair facility which we have used for 10 years) found the bulletin and followed the recommended fix (tightening four bolts around a bearing.) Guess what - it is now worse! It seems like this is a drive train issue, so we will try a dealer next, as a power train warranty issue. Will update this site on the results..
