Started out from Wilmington, DE, with 3 women going to a seminar in Virginia Beach. Drove south for 3 hours, 180 miles, stopping for lunch. Unknown to driver, key had been removed from purse to start, move and warm up car for passengers by spouse and not replaced. Drove all that distance until very end without warning from car that there was no key fob within car. When tried to enter car, it was locked. Called Chrysler and no answer and dealers in area all closed. Locksmith offered to come but we still could not have started car.
We missed the first day of seminar and introduction and had to wait for someone to bring key.
Why is this situation allowed, to have car run with no key? If I take it to car wash, the car cannot move without key, so is this an unusual situation?

This needs to be rectified immediately.
