The computer chip went out at the same time as my starter. More money to the dealer.

The Check Engine Light has been on since 2011. I had the chip replaced on 7/29/11 at a cost of $810. In 2013 the Check Engine light came on again and would not go off after shutting down and re-starting the car. I had another shop check it on 8/2/2013. They said that indicator numbers pointed to worn/defective vapor lines on the gas tank. It cost me $370.26 to drop the gas tank and replace those lines. A week later the Check Engine light came on again. I took it back to this shop and they suggested that since the car is 12 years old, and has low mileage each year, that if we keep it under 5,000 miles per year, we can bypass the required repairs for Check Engine light issues, pay for the PA Emissions Inspection sticker, and be OK to drive the vehicle. So, that is what we do every year. Chrysler needs to come up with a solution.
