Sebring LX 2.7L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 165,134 miles

Purchased the car used.

Oil slick in driveway immediately.

250 miles on one quart of oil.

Mechanic explained to me that the engine block is aluminum and the oil pan is steel and when heated while driving, expand at different rates and is difficult to seal properly.

The mechanic fixed the oil leak. Costly to repair since exhaust system had to removed to access the oil pan.

Looking at the bottom of the engine block, the only engine oil pick up is a slot in the engine block/not separate oil pick up.

Sebring LX 2.7L V6

Oil leak on driver's side just to the right of the front headlight. It's a slow leak, but I have to add 1 quart every 1500-2000 miles. A few drops of oil on the ground each day. Brought it to the mechanic. Of course it wasn't leaking then, so he said he couldn't find any evidence of an oil leak. My evidence is on the floor of my garage. Right now it's just an inconvenience. The oil color looks ok, and I don't think it's leaking into other engine parts right now.
