The contact owns a 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible. While the contact's daughter was driving 30 mph, the brake pedal extended to the floor when it was depressed. His daughter crashed into another vehicle and the front air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The insurance company stated that the vehicle was destroyed and would not investigate why the air bags did not deploy. The contact's daughter received injuries to her face and neck. The failure mileage was 68,000.

The vehicle's engine seized while driving. The vehicle had a continuing brake problems and would die while in motion. The consumer requested reimbursement. When the vehicle was first purchased at 92 miles, there was a problem with low oil. The consumer was advised that the transmission leaked. The vehicle would continue to lose power and the oil light had come back on. Other problems were: The brake light was intermittent, the front end would vibrate, the brakes squealed, there was slight leak at the proportioning valve, the top was pulled down and the radio had become inoperative, the side mirrors and the power locks had become inoperative, and the brake pads had worn down to 2/32.

Driving North on I-75 I lost control over my 2002 Chrysler Sebring convertible - the car veered left crossed one lane and hit the median concrete divider. 2 failures were the brakes and the steering became unresponsive as I was unable to apply the brakes and unable to steer the car. There was no skid marks reported by the police report. The driver airbag ripped and did not successfully blow. The passenger airbag deployed properly. I suspect that the main cause cause of this accident was the lack of steering, which caused the car to veer left and hit the center concrete divider. The car is currently in storage in royal oak, Michigan and is a total loss.

Front brake rotors warped beyond repair at delivery. Front grill area deeply scratched on both sides of grill. Transmission jerks badly when going into gear. All tires badly out of balance at delivery. Because of the out of balance tires and the warped brakes the ABS system sensor could receive false signals therefore rendering the ABS inoperable.

Since I bought my car 4/13/03 I have had brake system problems on 6/2002,9/23,11/27-3/2003,5/03,9/03,9/18,10/01/03,10/07/03 each time adjustments, repairs, replacement have been done. Now since 9/23/03 along with the brake problem that still existing I am experiencing very a heavy, vibration this is felt when the car is at a standstill car can either be in neutral or park and it feels as though there is a vibrating mechanism attached to your car. The service department says they couldn't detect anything on their scanning device.

The braking system on our 2002 Chrysler Sebring seems inadequate. Hard applicaton on a very cold and wet road at highway speeds does not result in brake lock up. I understand lock up is bad, but certainly the car should have enough braking power to lock the brakes under those conditions
