Sebring LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 118,000 miles

We had the car for about a year. It was my 87 year old father's car and was given to me after his death. Most of the complaints for a 2002 Sebring, especially the first 4 we have experienced. Problem is that they never looked this site up when they kept giving us our car back just for it to stall at a major intersection and the police having it towed to their lot until our insurance company could come.

We had an alternator put in it and they thought that would be the problem, not! Broke down again! Towed again. Then they had it almost a month and they said they were driving it around and it was fine and they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Come get it, broke down again. Gave us a loaner car, had it for 3 weeks and they said that you might as well come get it, there is nothing wrong with it! (except that I had called a few days earlier and they told me that while driving it they had to keep their foot on the gas so it wouldn't stall. I GUESS NOBODY TALKS TO EACH OTHER.

When I called the following week they said that we should come get it that they could find nothing wrong, I mentioned what the other mechanic said and he told me that he would call me back. The car has been a nightmare since 80,000 miles. My daughter's Passat had 200,000 miles on it when she finally sold it for parts for $800.00. The oil light comes on faintly, always felt like it was going to stall. And now, a lass, they know what the problem is: Lower Rod Bearings Going, which he said makes the car overheat and would explain the symptoms.

This sucks, we only have 1 car, my son needs the car for work as he is saving his money to move out to Colorado. His girlfriend, by the way Junked her Sebring for the same reason. Why are they still allowed to sell these cars? Obviously after 70-80 thousand miles the car starts all this crap. We have had cars that have had more than twice the miles and didn't get rid of them until it was really time. This makes me sick at my stomach. I am disabled, we have to sell our house because of Student Loans for my daughter and now have no car! I will never buy American! Perhaps Japan just makes better cars or Germany, etc. Chrysler was bailed out!!!!!

Why can't they bail us out of problems with the cars we bought in good faith. I am mad, angry and broke! What am I suppose to do now? I cannot find a place to put my email address lskpreston794@msn.com feel free to comment or if you have suggestions.

Do not buy a Chrysler The Rims flake and tires are constantly going flat. Car runs fine one minute the next completely dead. Never seen a company make a car and do nothing about the defects. Only in America .One day someone is going to get killed by the stalling and blown tire problems.

Sebring 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 62,137 miles

The car would shut off while driving, mostly at stop signs or red lights and even when driving under 5km. Twice already the car just randomly got stuck in lower gear and would not shift and my speedometer stopped working. I took it to the mechanic and had a variety of sensors replaced, a month later all the problems came back. Also my heat only works on on high. I thought I was just unlucky and got a lemon, turns out I am not the only one to face these problems. This car left a sour taste in my mouth and I am definitely buying foreign next time.

Sebring 2.7L v6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 190,144 miles

I took the day off from work to celebrate my birthday at the end of July. I was only 5 minutes away from my house when my car just stopped in the middle of the highway. Had to have the car towed in to my house. The car gave no indication that something was wrong. Had an oil change completed 2 weeks before and tech did not report any problems. Towed the car to Chrysler service dept in August. The service was a nightmare!!!! I had to keep calling them to find out any information about my car. After a month of being their they informed me that the both computers was gone and needed to be replaced and they didn't know what else was wrong until they replaced the computers. Another month went by which resulted in my husband calling the supervisor to complain about the lack of communication from their service dept. Afterwards the service manager called to say that the main computer they put in was bad and had to order a new one. They finally put it in in November only to inform me that the engine was gone in the car and that it was burning oil. They told me that it will crank but it is not driveable. NOT SAFE!!!! THEY COULDN'T TELL ME THIS BEFORE THEY PUT IN $1100 WORTH OF COMPUTERS SO THAT IT COULD SIT IN MY YARD? CHRYSLER KNOWS THE PROBLEMS WITH THE SEBRINGS BUT IS USING THESE PROBLEMS AS CASH COWS FOR THEIR COMPANY. HOW CAN WE GET JUSTICE FOR BEING PUT IN DANGER? I DO NOT HAVE MONEY TO THROW AWAY AND I INFORMED THE MECHANIC OF THIS WHEN IT WAS TOWED IN. IF IT WAS SOMETHING THEY COULD FIX THEY SHOULD HAVE INFORMED ME OF THAT. MY CAR NEVER RAN HOT. WHEN I WENT IN TO SEE THE CAR AFTER THEY SAID THEY HAD IT FIXED( NOT HARDLY), IT TOOK A WHILE FOR THE ENGINE TO START AND WHEN IT DID IT HAD A TERRIBLE RATTLING NOISE AND THICK BLACK SMOKE WAS COMING OUT OF THE EXHAUST PIPES. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS NORMAL UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. NO WAY!!!! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHRYSLER AGAIN!!! THEIR RELIABILITY STINKS!!!! NEVER BEEN SO DISAPPOINTED IN A CAR BEFORE!!!!! I HAVE CONTINUOUSLY FIX THINGS ON THIS CAR. NO MORE.

Sebring 3.2L V6

I took my car to this reliable mechanic shop. Apparently they could not figure out why it would not keep running when it started. Everything was diagnosed. It turned out 6 weeks later still in the shop, it was the cars computer brain. I never got a new one in but I know that they went to a junk yard and installed an old one in and charged me as if it was new.

I never reported it because i didn't have solid proof. But I had a friend mechanic look at it and that's exactly what they did. Now this is what I call taking advantage of a woman!
