This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Chrysler dealer.
1/15/09 I purchased my Chrysler Sebring in January of 2005. I have had the same continuous air bag light problem as mentioned by these people. I took the car 20 miles away to the dealership in Dec. 05, May '06, June of '06, and Feb of '07. They replaced the driver or passenger side seat belt/tensioner each time except the last, saying it was a wiring problem in the seat belt. The light has been on again for almost a year, periodically it dings very loud every minute. It is past due for inspection and I don't know if it will pass with the light on. I called the dealership, and they said they will have to do a diagnostic for $80.00 (it is no longer under warranty); who knows what the repair will cost now that it is out of warranty. Do you have a suggestion other than continuously taking the car back for the same fix over and over? This is obviously a defect! Deborah Presson

This car has been in the shop 4 times to have this problem fixed. They have yet to fix the problem. Another Sebring owner brought his car in and complained of the same problem. What the hell? I have 3 kids and if I was in an accident I have no idea if that darn air bag will go off. This is BS.

I bought the car at 47,000 miles and the air bag light came on shortly thereafter and has stayed on. I took it in and got the code... it's a seatbelt clasp issue on the driver's side. Wonderful. Recommended solution: replace. This is the fourth problem I've had with the car in the five months since I bought it: oil leak, broken motor mount (yes, at this low of mileage), new water housing outlet after car overheated and left me on the side of the road, and now the seat belt problem. Not including unnecessary tune up done when problem was misdiagnosed and new diagnostic code (revealed yesterday) shows possible problem with a hose. (Not surprising if motor is loose). It's going to cost more to repair this vehicle than what I paid for it five months ago. I am extremely unhappy and not going to ever buy another Chrysler.
