I lived rurally at the time (Camano Island, Wa.), where it was really quite. So, of course this damn thing would go off, ALWAYS, in between the hours of 2am, and 5am, my neighbors REALLY were beginning to hate me. I had to pull the fuse, or be run off the island!!!

Bought my Sebring knowing about the problem, worked fine for about a month and nothing happened. At 4 in the morning heard my car horn constantly going off. Drove to school and horn was constantly going off the whole drive. It's very dangerous, could cause a fight between someone, or even a wreck. Very upset!

Horn goes off at random times and will just stay on. Had to pull the fuse. Haven't tried the airbag replacement yet, but considering the number of similar complaints and the fact that the only way for that debacle of a company to stay afloat was with government intervention (taxpayer $$) at least they could fix what appears to be a fairly common problem. They must be "too big to" fix.

I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ONE DAY AND THE HORN JUST START BLOWING. I DO NOT HAVE A BURGLARY ALARM. I PULL OVER IN A AUTO ZONE HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG, HE SAID CHANGE THE FUSE, I DID. THE HORN KEPT GOING OFF. SO I HAD TO TAKE THE FUSE OUT. THAT'S HOW I HAVE BEEN DRIVING, NO HORN. I AVERAGE 4 TO 5000 MILES A YEAR.

I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC HE TOOK THE TOP OF THE STEERING WHEEL OFF WHERE THE AIR BAG IS . HE SAID IT IS A PART INSIDE WHERE THE AIRBAG IS. HE SAID I HAVE TO BUY THE WHOLE PART. SO I SAID OK THANKS, BUT I REALLY DON'T WANT ANYONE BUT CHRYSLER WORKING ON THAT PART WHERE MY AIR BAG IS. SO I DIDN'T LET HIM DO IT. I DIDN'T TAKE IT TO CHRYSLER, I WAS AFRAID THEY WOULD CHARGE ME A ARM AND A LEG THAT I DON'T HAVE.

The problem is a faulty "airbag clockspring". Although the dealership would like you to believe this is a dealer only item, it can be purchased at most auto parts stores for around $80.

PLEASE, unless you are car savvy do not attempt this installation. You will be messing around with airbag wiring and unless you follow proper procedures, you risk setting it off directly in your face. This at the VERY least will result in a trip to the ER.

Information for the part is as follows: Manufacturer: Dorman Part # 525107 Shown below on the advance auto website. http://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/dorman-oe-solutions-airbag-clock-spring-525-107/10028819-P?vehicleIdFromReq=361034&isAllVehicle=false&vehicleIdSearch=361034&searchTerm=525107&showTitle=

The day after I bought the car, new in in 2006, the horn started blaring in the middle of the night. In the morning I drove the 1 hour back to the dealership to get it fixed. By the time I got there it had stopped blaring and they informed me that I would have to make an appointment (the next available one was a week away).

I begged. I pleaded. and, when that didn't work, I drove the car to just outside the door to the showroom, and banged on the steering wheel until the horn started again. Then I walked into the showroom loudly proclaimed that I had bought the car there 2 days ago and no one will help me with the obvious defect in the horn (you could still hear it going outside). Three mechanics ran out to look after the problem and replace the part (they had just received a shipment of them, go figure!).

And now, just yesterday, the problem has returned and I will have to take it in again and this time just have them disconnect the stupid thing as I refuse to pay for this problem that THEY have created. I will never buy from Chrysler again.

If the temperture is under 40 degrees the horn will go off for about 20 to 25 seconds, sometimes twice in a 24 hour period. this is a pain in the Ass. chrysler needs to fix the problem before a fire starts from a short in the wiring or what is causing the problem.

Nothing like waking up at 4:30am to go to work. Start my vehicle, only for the horn to blow about 15 seconds after I start it. I live in a community of less than 300 so I'm sure I woke everyone, turn it off, restart it and same repeat. 15 seconds later the horn starts blaring.

Make it 50 complaints now. Today my car horn has gone off three times (so far) and scared one kid to cry. The car is parked on the street, locked, and the engine is not running. I have checked the 2006 owners manual thinking I could simply remove the fuse, however it says that the fuse in Cavity 8 (20 amp yellow) controls the: power receptacle, horns, ignition, fuel, start. Someone please tell me how so many people on this complaint list successfully removed the fuse and then continued to drive their vehicle.

A mechanic obviously I am not. I looked under the hood by the lower right and left headlight to search for a snail shaped device to disconnect the wires as indicated on the "How to" website with no luck. Paying a $Grand$ to fix seems unreasonable to an identified chronic problem. Please tell me if you found a simple fix that a blonde can do - a smart one at that.

Goes off randomly in the middle of the night. Have to run out and press the panic button repeatedly until the horn stops blaring. Will try not using fob to lock to see if that helps, but today it did it while I was preparing to start the car, so I'm not convinced that decreased fob use is the answer.

The horn worked perfectly until we used it one day to avoid a collision from another car drifting into our lane. After that, the horn goes off randomly. Sometimes the horn stays on until someone hits the steering wheel a few times to get the button to stop making contact. On a few occasions, my neighbors complained. One day, the horn went off many times driving in heavy traffic, causing so much stress for my wife that I decided to unplug the horn relay.

The horn is a necessity in dense urban traffic, where too many drivers are changing lanes without looking, or are too focussed on their cell phones, and drift into your lane, etc.

I am required by law in my state (Texas) to have a working horn to pass the annual vehicle inspection, and to avoid fines.

The button is clearly a poor design, as so many have reported this same issue, while this problem rarely exists in other cars.

While Chrysler doesn't see this as enough of a safety recall, they most certainly should. This faulty horn has caused nearly enough accidents because of it's sudden ability to go off while driving. It is an extreme danger. I contacted my Chrysler dealership and was told it was not covered under warranty or my extended warranty.

I went to one of the top diagnostic technicians in my region (my uncle holds this prestigious, hard earned title) and he explained to me that "repairs" alone would cost roughly $1,000 and ultimately, it would continue to happen again somewhere down the line because of the way in which the system was built and the parts the manufacturer used. He said for the problem to actually be fixed, Chrysler would need to recall and completely redo the entire system with new design than my Chrysler Sebring currently has, otherwise the problem will continue to replicate. He frankly told me I can either pay $1,000 to temporarily solve the problem or I can have my horn disconnected.

I contacted Chrysler to file a formal complaint about this. Of course their response passed the buck and they did nothing. I will never buy a Chrysler Dodge vehicle again. On top of this horn problem, I have had so many problems with this vehicle. If I could afford to buy a different vehicle, I certainly would.

Took car to dealer after numerous episodes with horn randomly going off, not working, etc. Lindsay Chrysler charged me over $1500 to replace body control module and then told me another $220 to replace horn module (clockspring?). I was in the process of moving and figured I would get one after moving, as I didn't have the extra cash to finish fixing things. Now I am having difficulties getting car safety inspected. Apparently it's a bigger problem than they told me... I likely will NEVER buy another Chrysler product again!

I bought the car, and didn't notice until after the fact that the horn didn't work. I had a couple experiences in which the horn went off for no apparent reason for an extended period of time, one of which occurrences resulted in my removing the fuse for it. When safety and emissions inspection approached I took it in to have it worked on. The problem was the switch in the steering wheel. The official solution was to order the part for $700 and have it installed for more. I found three alternatives. First is to order a used airbag. I found some on ebay and so forth between $300 and $500. Not my favorite solution. Here is where to listen up. The second solution is the one I used. I went to a salvage yard and pulled one off of an old car. Only airbags from the exact same year and model work, which sucks. I'm pretty sure I pulled the only one in Utah. It cost me $35 plus the $120-ish for diagnostics and installation. The last option is what I would've done if I couldn't find a salvage one. It's amazingly simple to rig an external switch onto the wheel. The horn is just two wires, and when you complete a circuit between the two wires the horn goes off.

Hello All!!

I was driving to work when my horn goes off and I had to hit the steering wheel column with my hand and eventually I managed to get it to quit. I pulled over and called AMA and had it towed to the dealership. After more than a week they called and was ready for pickup the cost was $1100.00. I informed my go to guy at the dealership that this site had a lot of complaints regarding this issue (horn going off) and he stated that he would speak with the engineer dept on the issue as he was shocked to see how many complaints there were and it seems to be an ongoing problem...Of course they did nothing in regards to compensation and the engineer dept didn't get back to him. I was ready to by Dodge truck this upcoming month but they lost a valuable customer. Even had they met me half way on the repair price this to me would have been an admirable thing as a dealership to do.

I was just going down the road and the horn starting going off all by itself. Finally took out the fuse and went and bought a new fuse. That did not fix the problem. It went off when hitting unlock button on remote. Then took it to my mechanic and he said that the horn pad assembly which was a dealer only part had to be replaced. So right now I have just left the fuse out, because it is an expensive fix. I agree with all of the other people that Chrysler should be fixing this issue.
