I own a 2007 Sebring (VIN [xxx]) with approximately 56,700 miles. I purchase the vehicle in Nov. 2008 considered new with 29,000 miles from Saturn of fremont, ca. The car is driven primarily by my wife to and from work and to drop off and pick up the children. After a recent oil change on May 2, 2010, my family and I noticed an extremely loud engine noise. For the first week after the oil change, the car would start fine but the noise became worse. The engine began to loose pressure while driving on the highway and as of today, will not start at all. I visited a Chrysler automall dealership on sommersville road in antioch, ca on Saturday May 15. I was told that I would have to pay a $130 diagnostic fee as the vehicle was out of warranty. I was under the impression that the vehicle was still under warranty as I was told at the time of purchase that the warranty would be extended to 3 years/60,000 miles. The technician mentioned that the noise was a radiator or fan motor. Then I checked the recalls for 2007 Sebrings and found two recalls (NHTSA campaign id numbers: 08vi52000 and 07V473000 regarding engine and electrical matters, one of which has the same concern that I have. I called Chrysler and spoke to brittany who said my VIN did not have any concerns so the company could not help me. Information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Vehicle hit a deer head on and burst into flames. Air bags did not deploy. Auto has been in to dealership numerous times for engine light, which would not stay off. On my home from Arizona to Minnesota, the emergency brake light kept coming on when going down off ramps.

The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. While driving on June 21, 2008 there was smoke present under the hood. After approaching a traffic light the vehicle shut off and a large amount of smoke was coming from the engine. She observed that the engine compartment and the under side of the vehicle was on fire. The fire department was able to extinguish the fire after three attempts. The vehicle was towed. The dealer confirmed with the contact that there were no recalls related to her VIN. The dealer instructed the tow truck company to bring the vehicle to them; however, the dealer later advised them to take the vehicle away since the damage was so massive. The dealer also stated that the contact would have to wait until Monday to obtain a rental car. The dealer later informed the contact that they would not provide her with a rental car until an investigator inspected the vehicle. An investigator has not inspected the vehicle since the fire occurred. The failure and current mileages were 32,000.
