The contact owns a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the vehicle stalled. The failure occurred on several occasions. The contact also stated that there was a burning odor coming from under the hood. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where the battery, wires, fuel filter, spark plugs and the ignition switch were replaced but the failure recurred. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer, who diagnosed that the wires caught on fire and the fuel pump was damaged. As a result, the fuel pump was replaced and the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 89,919.

The contact stated the fuel pump electrical connector and the fuel pump body melted. The diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 62,000.
