I too own a 2007 Chrysler Sebring. I use a mechanic who came highly recommended to fix a bad fuel pump back in 2011 or 2012. He replaced the fuel pump and the car ran just fine for about 4 - 5 days. I had just filled the gas tank and on the way home from the gas station the car was operating just fine until I noticed it began to decelerate. No matter how much I pressed on the gas to increase acceleration, it was if the car had just stopped running altogether! I had no power.

Fortunately, I was able to coast off the road to a nearby gas station to check the problem. My daughter was trailing behind in her car and informed me that she could see gas spilling out a trail of gas. The tank was emptied! I ended up taking it to the dealership to have them fix it AGAIN!!! It is now 2015 and I had yet another gas leak. I smelled a faint odor of gas coming through the vents while driving from time to time. However I did not get a warning from the fuel indicator at any time.

It took 3 "good" mechanics to diagnose the problem and to find out where the leak was coming from. I was stranded since my car was at these shops for a total of 6 days combined. One of the mechanics fixed 2 thermostats, installed a new battery, spark plugs and antifreeze (?) $250. The next mechanic kept the car for 3 days but could not find out where the leak was coming from and said he no longer smelled the gas, but charged me $45.

The next mechanic kept the car for 2 more days and the only thing he did was replace the "O" ring which he charge $400 for. No more gas leak or smell. The brakes failed next. This seems to be an ongoing issue. No matter how many brake jobs have been done, there is always squealing afterwards, that never stops. There was an incident that occurred when a dog ran out of nowhere onto the roadway and I swerve to avoid hitting him, but the car just kept swerving from side to side in a snake like motion. Scared the crap out of me, but after a few of those swerves, the car gained control. That could have been a potentially dangerous accident if other vehicles were on the road at the time, but thankfully, there were not.

Front and rear brakes recently done about a week ago for $186, but with squealing and scrubbing with braking persists. I reported it back to the mechanic but he now tells me it could be the rotors or the master cylinder and that he would need to keep it a whole day to make a better diagnosis and to take the guess work out of it.

I do not have the funds to keep giving away, while the problem still exists and there are other repairs that need to be done! I do hope the dealerships will see all the problems these cars have and do a total recall on these models.

The initial failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 177,000.

not happy. can you imagine driving your car and all a sudden you have no power, your car just stops working. me either. thank goodness i got my car to a mechanic in time or no telling what could have happened. he said i could have lost power at anytime.he also told me that this is not the first car he has fixed with this issue. what was my problem the throttle light came on. so if this happens to you please get your car checked out.just imagine your car stopping on the freeway, or in the middle of a busy intersection...that could be deadly.
