About These NHTSA Complaints:
The NHTSA is the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints can be spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem. See the Back button — blue bar at the very top of the page — to explore more.
There is a steal tooth ring on each wheel that provides a pulse for the anti lock brake sensors. These rings are mounted on the outside cv joints, next to the front wheels and are exposed to the elements. The front rings got rust under them, the rust caused the rings to crack. The cracks enlarged the spaces between the teeth. That sends a false signal to the anti lock brake computer causing the antilock system to engage all the time. The only way to fix the rings is by changing the whole front drive axles. This will be a repair bill of $300 - $400 for a pair of steel rings.
