Tires were losing air pressure. Dealership examined vehicle for this problem, and replaced tire valve stem. Work performed by dealership did not remedy problem. Dealership then diagnosed that there was a possible chemical reaction with tire repair sealant, which consumer claimed was never used with this vehicle. An employee at a salvage yard informed consumer that problem of continued loss of air pressure in tires could be related to a chemical reaction with the chrome plating of wheel. Please provide any additional information / documentation.

I have two wheels on this vehicle that kept going flat with no aparent reason. Investigation revealed it was corrosion around the valve stem. This was originaly blamed on salt corrosion. This vehicle hasn't been in salt as I am a snow bird and go South for the winter. Further investigation revealed savere corrosion around the safety and sealing bead. In the inner section of the wheel where it is only.150 inch thick the corrosion is.110 inch deep. I feel this is a serious defect and have replaced the two defective wheels. One of the wheels when removed contained about 1/2 cup of what appeared to be water.
