Vehicle was shifted from park into drive without stepping on brake pedal. Anti-theft device was still engaged on brake pedal preventing driver from stopping at red light at intersection. In a panic, to prevent collision with other cars, driver veered off road and side swiped commercial building to stop car.

Intermittently while pulling out gear shift will move by itself into neutral or in reverse. Consumer has taken vehicle to dealer 3 times, and performed diagnostic test, but no codes were found. Vehicle checks out normal, could not duplicate defect. Consumer states while vehicle is on and after shifting from park to drive, the vehicle will move into neutral or reverse on its own, this usually happens after driving approximately 1000-2000 miles, on one occasion while pulling out of a parking space, consumer put vehicle in drive and vehicle began to move backwards instead of forwards, dealer will be installing a co-Pilot to help determine the cause of the problem.

Vehicle was turned on when consumer got out to take luggage from trunk. 3 year old child hopped in front seat, put vehicle in reverse and almost killed 6 children standing behind vehicle. Manufacturer stated there was no way for them to add a lock to vehicle. Same incident happened again 1 month ago prior to this incident.

Consumer believes that vehicle was designed poorly, she has concerns with vehicle not being equipped with a brake shift interlock, however the brand new models do contain this feature and consumer feels that the model she has as well as others should be recalled.

Vehicle fails to have a brake lock entry with key in ignition. A 3 year old hit shift lever and vehicle started to roll backwards. Vehicle was not turned on at the time, but key was in ignition.

Transmission interlock system was not made with 2000 Town and country van, and child was able to put car in drive without pressing brakes down. Dealer refuses to install this feature.

Most 2000 vehicles come with transmission interlock system. With this system, only way to put car in gear is to press brakes. Consumer indicated that his vehicle didn't come with transmission interlock system. His child put car in gear, and car rolled down driveway on two occasions. Front brakes pulsate when applied, deale replaced front rotors. The first incident where child shifted vehicle intor everse, there was damage to the vehicle and to the consumers home, consumer traded in the 2000 for a 2001 because it came equipped with the interlock system, consumer wants Chrysler to reimburse him for the difference he had to pay.
