We purchased our 2003 Town and country in 2008 within a few months of our purchase we noticed that the hatchback no longer opened using the key or sometimes the door does not open or close and we have to open the hatchback manually or try to close the door manually and at times the door will not close and we have to wait until it is ready to shut which if you are in a rush in the morning 5-10 minutes is a while to wait especially when you are trying to get kids off to school and yourself off to work.

Town & Country 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 53,000 miles
The contact stated there was NHTSA recall campaign 05V134000 concerning the latches, locks, and linkages. However, the recall did not correct the problem. The vehicle had the same problems again. The dealer has been contacted, but refused to offer another free remedy. Also, the contact had an ongoing problem with the automatic transmission. It shifted in and out of gear while driving. The dealership replaced the transaxle assembly and the torque converter under warranty, but this did not solve the problem. The manufacturer made arrangements for an inspector to see the vehicle in an attempt to determine the source of the transmission problem.
