The vehicle headlights go out randomly while driving and cannot be turned back on immediately. High beams still work if manually held on by pulling the high beam switch. This has occurred numerous times. Also the electric door locks fail randomly. Also the electric door locks fail randomly. Also elec windows fail randomly. Dealer always reports, unable to duplicate the problem. Also vehicle has one time totally shut down electrically while driving at 60 mph. All electric components went out and vehicle stopped running. It restarted after turning off the key and re starting. Headlight problem is the most dangerous as they just shut off randomly while driving and cannot be immediately turned back on. This is not a one time problem but a constant re-curring malfunction.

2005 Chrysler Town and country power door locks inoperative. Pulling the 20A iod fuse and reinserting it fixes the problem for about 3 or lock/unlocks of the vehicle. After that the locks are broken again. Kids can open the door while in motion because the door does not lock at this point.

The auto locks don't work on my 2005 Chrysler T&C. I have had continual problems with the auto-locks not working. I have pulled the fuse and have also disconnected the battery for several hours at a time to "correct". sometimes this fixes for several days, and sometimes for several months. Currently even after "resetting" by disconnecting the battery, the drivers side sliding door still won't auto lock/unlock when the other doors do. Also, the lock/unlock switch on the passenger door does not lock/unlock the doors. I have heard there is a software update for the BCM that addresses this, but even that is not guaranteed to totally fix the issue. Also, I don't feel that as it is a known issue, that we should have to pay to have the system updated.

I have a 2005 Chrysler Town and country it started with my locks stopping working I disconnected it and than it worked for a couple of weeks than it would go out again. Now my ABS and traction control light came on and quit working for a week now the light went out and works I tried the battery thing again but did not work. I'm afraid the computer may stop working when diving. I only have 48,000 miles on it.

Power door locks will not operate. Computer malfunction is the cause. If the iod fuse is pulled, or the battery disconnected it will temporarily relive the problem.

Door locks have repeatedly stopped working on my 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Sites like autoforum.classifieds1000.com/Dodge-grand_caravan/power_locks_will_not_lock_or_unlock show that there are many people with this same problem. This should result in a recall on whatever it is that 's wrong with the door locking system on these Chrysler/Dodge vans.

Door locks do not work. The rear sliding doors locked up and would not open. The front side doors will not lock or unlock. I got the rear sliding doors open by climbing in the back and pulling the tab up. The passenger rear sliding door is powered, but it wouldn't work either I finally got it working by pulling the fuse ( which was not blown) but when I put the fuse back in it started working. The safety issue here is, what if a child was in the back and this situation accured. And you were unable to open the doors?

The power door locks do not work either with the fob or with the power lock button on the door panels. The internet is full of discussion on this topic each with several complaints, all of them saying that there is no permanent fix. This vehicle has only one key entry, so that you can open only the door with the key and the one behind it without climbing into the vehicle and crawling around inside. There is much advice on the internet for temporary fixes that require opening the hood and unhooking the battery cable daily to reset a computer etc.

On 2005 Chrysler Town and country, power door locks completely stop working. Van only has one key hole! pulling the battery cables, fixes the problem temporarily, they stop working again. Dealer wants $90 to upgrade software. Internet search shows this is a very common problem ! software/ update problems should be fixed at no cost.

Power locks failed. I took the van to the dealership in Jan. 2009 for other repairs (ck engine light - ended up being a bad egc valve) and when I mentioned the locks had failed the technician immediately asked if the van was a 2005. When I said yes, he told me that there was a defect in the programming of the locks which has caused a high number of them to fail. Told I would have to pay $100 to have them fixed. Which I did as it has been very inconvenient as there is only one lock for key entry. $100 for it to be reprogrammed was highway robbery. Why was there no recall if they knew they were defective?

I attempted to lock my van using the remote. The van did not lock. Thought battery was dead in my remote. But sliding door would still open. Then I had to manually lock all doors and it's difficult when I'm pregnant. I am unable to unlock all doors using the interior switch and there is only one door that I have to manually unlock with the key. It was constant. Someone suggested to pop off the fuse and then put it back. Did that. But temporary solution. Also the lock will not automatically lock when van is in motion over 20 mph. Dangerous as I have kids all under the age of 5.
