The 2005 Chrysler Town and country stalls when we fill it up with gasoline. We had the valve replaced and all the codes cleared. It continues to stall on us. We have had two close accidents with other vehicles including a school bus passing by when the car stalls randomly. My husband has taken our van to the repair shop multiple times and no codes come up. This is a very serious issue because there is no reason for the van to just stall randomly. No death or injury but why does that have to be the case for someone to be done about this issue.

Almost every time after we fill up the gas tank of our 2005 Town & Country, the engine runs rough when we exit the station and many times dies entirely. Engine restarts almost immediately and it doesn't happen any other time. Even after tune-up, throttle body cleaning and new spark plugs, condition continues.

Upon hearing a noise coming from the engine of our 2005 Town and country we took the van to our independent mechanic. He found the noise was caused by a broken alternator mount. He did not complete any repairs but stated we should contact Chrysler since this was a manufacturer defect in the part. When I contacted Chrysler I was told I had to take it to an authorized dealer to have them look at it and then the dealership would have to call them back. I did that and the shop manager, jim, took an approximately 15 second look at the broken part, shut the hood, took my number and asked why Chrysler said he had to call. I told him that was what I had been told and he said he would get back with me. I called him the next day and he said he had a call in to his district manager who had the authority to authorize repairs. When jim called back he stated that the district manager would not repair the broken part based on the number of miles on the van (83,000.) jim also stated that he had never seen this happen before and had no idea what could have caused the mount to break. He agreed that even if the van had 200,000 miles on it he would not expect to see the broken mount. I asked what other recourse I had and he stated I would have to call the 1-800 Chrysler number. I then called that number and spoke with steve who took a report ( which I requested to have filed.) he then transferred me to cheryl who read the report and then called the dealership and spoke with jim. When she returned to me she stated they would not do the repair based on the number of miles and the fact that I did not exclusively use the dealership for routine maintenance. She said that since I did not show loyalty to the dealership and the brand then they were not willing cover the repair. No one ever denied that the product was defective.

While driving the car at night, without any warning, the engine began rattling. After having it towed to a local dealership, I was told the 7 year/70000 mile powertrain warranty would not be honored unless I can prove the vehicle was properly maintained. The car requires a new engine, which the estimated to be $8000. The car is 3.5 years old with 29,000 miles and had regular oil changes. Chrysler still refuses to honor the warranty.

I purchased a 2005 Chrysler Town and country in April of 2005 with only 265 miles on it. The engine shut off in may of 2005 and continues to do so even though the dealer has replaced the PCM. The dealer is saying they are unable to repair the car because they can not duplicate the problem or get code readings from their computers. My vehicle's passenger air bag light keeps coming on also.

Complete failure of vehicle safety systems while vehicle in motion time: About 3:45 pm place: Long meadow elementary school in rochester hills, mi 48309 vehicle: 2005 Town & Country - [xxx] mileage 11,700 1. after arriving in the school parking lot, my wife slowed down to take a turn to park in a spot. 2. the vehicle completely stalled and stopped. 3. she turned off the ignition and then restarted the engine. The engine started. 4. she tried to turn and park at the same spot on left side. The steering did not respond and vehicle kept moving in straight direction. 5. she tried to stop the vehicle by applying the brakes repeatedly with no response. 6. she also tried to steer vehicle towards empty space with no result. 7. she put the transmission in parking; it made some loud noise but did not stop the vehicle. 8. there was a steel gate right in front about 40-50 yards from where she started. The vehicle crashed in the gate and stopped. No one was injured. There was damage to the steel gate and the vehicle. 9. I arrived at the place about 15-20 minutes later. I was able to start the engine but did not try to move/reverse it. 10. school authorities informed the police about the incident. 11. around 5 P.M. the vehicle was towed to body shop of golling Chrysler Jeep in bloomfield hills, Michigan 12. Next morning (March 10th), ms sheila from golling Chrysler body shop called me. As per her, the fuel pump of the vehicle has problems and that explains the problem with braking and steering system. She was not able to explain how the engine restarted after stalling and vehicle moved if the fuel pump was broken. She also indicated the vehicle did not start at dealership. There was roughly about $2,000 dollar of body damage. 13. Chrysler has initiated an internal special investigation. I have received no results of investigation or any help for the hardship being faced. Updated 07/16/2012

I purchased a new, 2005, Town & Country minivan over the summer. I have just 6000 miles on this vehicle. Less than three weeks ago I had to take it in because the vehicle kept stalling out. The company fixed it at no cost to me, and even provided a rental vehicle. Apparently there was an "in-house" recall for this problem. Meaning that the dealerships knew about it, but not the consumer. Now, three weeks later I start hearing a noise in the steering column. I too had a 2003 Town & Country minivan which was subject to steering problems. I noticed that there was fluid all over my drive way and took it to the dealer. They told me that it was undriveable. So, now, Chrysler refuses to pay for the rental car. I was told by the dealer that the part in question was on back order, and that there were over 180 parts on that back order. Why should I the customer have to pay for a rental car on a new car when this is clearly a manufacturing problem. I am not the only one who has experienced this problem. I have contacted the company, and I only get the same old "I am sorry. Blah, blah, blah" song and dance. Where do I go from here?

Noticed a grinding noise in engine at 4,000 miles. Took in for the oil change and mentioned to the service advisor that there was a noise. After 3 weeks in a rental car, they finally returned the van after replacing the following: Cylinder head, valves, cylinder head gasket, intake manifold gasket, 3 pushrods, rocker arm, and an air conditioner belt. Not more than 8 hours later, I returned the car with a new noise. This time they replaced the intake manifold and gasket as they were improperly installed by the mechanic. Finally back in my own car after another 2 days.

While driving at low speed in a residential area (less than 20 mph) on a very hot day, the engine suddenly stalled out and all power lost while driving, twice within 5 minutes. I was not low on fuel. The first incident occurred while turning left at an intersection on a steep downhill, the second incident occurred within five minutes on a slight 20 degree downhill/straightaway. Each time, I was able to turn the key in the ignition to restart the engine, which restarted promptly. I took the minivan to the dealer within the hour who could not find any error codes on the computer check.
