I purchased a 2005 Chrysler Town and country. After a few months without incident, the vehicle would randomly stall (no power, engine off, stop in its tracks). After it happened three times, I realized this only occurs when filling the tank fully, after driving a minute or two. It is so dangerous! luckily, I had always pulled into a nearby store for another errand. If it had happened on the street, I would have been rear ended! the vehicle stops with no warning. All power shuts off and engine dies. It stops in its place and you are unable to coast and pull over. I can't believe there is no recall on this.

Ac unit failed on this because of the lines going to the rear ac unit corroded through. I have read several posts and see there was a tsb sent out regarding this. Contacted the dealer and they said there is no recall. This really surprises me with so many issues on this.

The first time, about a half mile after a fill-up while making a right hand turn, the engine died. Re-started without any other problems. Most of the time when this has happened is when making a turn but there has been times when stopped in traffic, the engine dies. Has always re-started. There has never been a failure if the tank is re-fueled to approximately 7/8 full.

All failures progressed in sequence over a period of time. Door locks failed to lock and or unlock intermittently using power controls. Instrument panel lights and gauges would flicker and pulse on and off, at times just off at night for different periods of time, usually minutes. Headlights would flicker between brights and dims or on and off. Radio lights flicker on or off. Instrument panel indicators light up for minutes at a time and then shut off with apparently nothing wrong. Seat belt audible alarm sounds on occasion when driving for no apparent reason. Cooling fan turns on hours after parking and can only be shut off by removing fuse or draining battery. Engine stalls at high speed abruptly, and turns back on. Transmission disengages and then re-engages after a few seconds. Occasionally the ignition switch will not provide power to the starter until after a few attempts and a few minutes.

About may or June of this year, the headlights of our 2005 Town & Country van started failing to come on when the interior switch was turn "on". at first, simple toggling would get them to work though the frequency of having to do this as well as the lights failing to stay on have increased significantly in the recent months. This is my wife's primary work vehicle and she often returns from work when it's dark. She had a number of instances where the headlights have just "gone out" while she was driving. I was looking on the internet recently to see if there were any posts as to what is causing this to happen and not many have posted an definitive answer to the headlight failure. My other major issue with this 2005 Town & Country is the ac system. We have had this fixed over 11 times since we purchased the vehicle new in October of 2005 with the first repair coming less than a month after we purchased the van.

My wife was driving to work when the van stalled out. She said she lost all power and almost got rear ended. I read where the 2008 and 2009 were recalled for the same thing. I took the van to a mechanic they could not get any codes. I fear for my family's safety. The mechanic said it was most likely the check valve that is built into the gas tank but not for sure. I read were two people died in the 08 and 09 and I don't wont this to happen to our family. Thank you

At 27,000 miles the A/C on my Chrysler Town and country failed - leak in rear evaportor core. The system will hold no refrigerant at all. The dealer, white plains Chrysler, 70 westchester ave., white plains, NY. Cannot get this part as it is on back order and will not be available for one month at least. There are several other of the same vehicles at the same dealership awaiting this part. This seems an unreasonable situation and one the manufacturer should address. The only explanation from the manufacturer was that this is a popular car! it looks like an extraordinary number of defects in this part as I research it on the internet. That this part will not be available until the summer is over is unreasonable. We are a retired couple and my husband has congestive heart failure and could not in any way be subject to the temperatures inside this vehicle. We are thus without transportation. We are "trapped" in our home for the entire summer. Why can't the manufacturer make this part available to the dealer in a more timely manner?
