Problem started 01/2011 at approximately 100,000 miles.vehicle stalls after filling gas tank. If you fill tank and pump shuts off the vehicle will stall after a couple minutes. Doesn't happen all the time but, about 85% of the time. It stalls anywhere from 1-3 times. It has stalled when I was in traffic driving and when I sit stationary and wait for it to happen before driving. Almost got rear ended on a couple of occasions. Had a repair on it at the dealer on 03/17/2011. They replaced the evap canister. Copy attached. It fixed the problem for about a year and a half and then it came back. I've seen lots of complaints on the internet for the same issue. I've read that the only fix is to replace the entire fuel tank. I can't afford that. For years now I've been sitting at the pump for 5 minutes after fueling or I don't fill the tank all the way up. The stalling is very dangerous because it can happen at any time when stationary, driving and turning. It is very dangerous when driving in traffic and going through intersections. I want to sell my car but, I'm afraid of getting sued if this defect causes an accident. I have not received any information from Chrysler for a recall. They really need to look into this common complaint.

Whenever I fill in the gas my Town and country will stall after driving a mile or so. Complained to dealer about this problem and they always suggested fuel injection service. On this date however my van completely stopped while driving soon after I filled my gas tank. Took to the dealer (it later started with check engine light on) and they changed the spark plugs with cable and did few more things. It still does the same. Soon after putting in gas it stalls/shuts off. Had to wait and start again. After that never gives any trouble until time to put in the gas.

After filling up the gas tank my Chrysler Town and country stalled on the road. All the electronic functions of my mini van I.e. the brakes and the steering wheel were disabled and I had to pull it on the side. It was thanksgiving day so there was light traffic on the road. The next day took the vehicle to Chrysler dealer and they did several things that costs total of $700. But next time I filled up the tank it happened again. I went online to google this problem and found out that this is a very common problem with Town and country mini van. It does poses a dangerous situation to some extent. This was suppose to be a recall from Chrysler but they totally ignored this. The fix to this problem is replacing the fuel tank...a big expense.

The first time, about a half mile after a fill-up while making a right hand turn, the engine died. Re-started without any other problems. Most of the time when this has happened is when making a turn but there has been times when stopped in traffic, the engine dies. Has always re-started. At 39,000 miles, the 2005 Town and country began stalling following a fuel filling. This stalling occurred and still occurs following fuel filling. The van was taken to a Chrysler dealership. The service department indicated that the roll-over valve on the fuel tank was the cause of the problem. The remedy given was a fuel tank and evaporator canister replacement at a cost of $900. Evidently the faulty valve cannot be replaced independent of the fuel tank. Internet research of this issue found that this is a commonly reported problem by 2005 Chrysler Town and country owners. As the stalling can occur as the vehicle enters a highway, this problem can cause accidents and injuries. Chrysler should issue a recall to repair the faulty valve on the tanks.

My wife was driving to work when the van stalled out. She said she lost all power and almost got rear ended. I read where the 2008 and 2009 were recalled for the same thing. I took the van to a mechanic they could not get any codes. I fear for my family's safety. The mechanic said it was most likely the check valve that is built into the gas tank but not for sure. Upon filling up with gasoline, especially when filling up completely, the engine will cut out several times while driving. It can happen from 1/10 of a mile, up to 5 or 6 miles on the tripometer. The problem started occurring when the vehicle reached about 75,000 miles and is continuing to do it at about 76,400 miles. Makes for a very dangerous and unpredictable driving scenario either in or out of traffic or when making turns (yes, it has stalled several times while in a turn, fortunately, I was prepared). Since Chrysler is aware of it and it is not an inexpensive repair, it should be the responsibility of the company. It certainly will be if I get into an accident because of it.

Dealer said problem was battery and replaced battery. (did not fix problem.) dealer claims to never have heard of the problem with the fuel system/tank. 2005 Town and country stalls after filling up with gas. Initially problem was infrequent and would happen once every few months. Now it happens after every fill up. Problem has to do with the evap system and the engine taking in gas instead of vapors thru the system. This is very hard to diagnose, and I imagine most shops diagnose it improperly since it would be hard to reproduce. The stalling does not produce a check engine light or any code visible using a generic obd2 code scanner or the Chrysler drb3 diagnostics system. I also imagine most owners don't link the stalling to filling up with gas, it took me several months to figure that out. Stalling happens within 40 miles of a tank fill up. I searched the internet and found dozens of other people complaining about the same problem. The repair is a whole new gas tank with an average repair cost of approx $800. It's a very dangerous problem, the van has stalled with my wife driving on the highway several times while taking my children places.
