Town & Country 6-cyl

I have a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. Tonight at 8:30 I turned the light switch on and started out of a parking lot when I realized that the headlights were not on. After several attempts of flipping the light switch on and off with no success, I put the vehicle in park and tried several more times and was finally able to get the headlights to turn on. 15 minutes later, while traveling down the road at 40+mph with 3 month old twin grandbabies and two older children in the vehicle, the lights turn off for at least 20 seconds or more and then return back on for even less time, when they resume to turning off again several times before making it home. I purchased this vehicle from a used dealership in September of 2010 with no idea that there were so many complaints about the headlights failing. This vehicle was purchased with the intention to safely carry my twin grandchildren and it is not acceptable that this problem has not been resolved and the dealership is not being held accountable.

Headlights malfunction at random times while driving they will turn off, flash or not even turn on when needed. This has been happening for almost a year now, and is very unsafe for me to drive with no headlights.

It happened several times at night when driving the headlights turned off. Pulled over and tried to turn the switch on and off several times before it turned back on. This kept coming back every now and then. Some times the lights will quit working for several weeks and then one day they would just come back on, and stay on for a few days before it starts all over again. Replaced headlight switch and headlight bulbs, clean all the fuses in the fuse box, problem not solved. This problem compromises the safety of the occupants of this vehicle as well as the safety of other road users.

Headlight switch works intermittently. Taken to dealer & they could not reproduce the problem. Front wipers collide at high speed. Rear wiper does not make full contact, no rear window visibility in rain or snow.

The contact owns a 2005 Chrysler Town and country. The contact stated that since 2009, the vehicle would stall while traveling at various speeds. The instrumental panel lights would flicker on and off before the stall. Also, the headlights would turn off intermittently or just flicker as if there was a shortage. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who informed the contact that they were unable to diagnose the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.

I entered my vehicle, started the car and proceeded to turn the headlights on. I noticed there was no light emanating from either headlight. I tried several times but the lights would not turn on and darkness had arrived. I drove the car without headlights to the nearest service station and they informed me it was a switch located in the steering column that needed replacing. I have googled this issue and have come across many complaints regarding this problem.

I have had problems with my headlights going off while driving at night or not coming on when I turn on the switch for going on 3 years. While my van was under warranty it was taken in specifically for this reason only to be told that they could not replicate the problem. It is now out of warranty. It can go for a couple of weeks without a problem then all of a sudden the lights go out while driving down the interstate. Luckily I have been able to get them to come right back on. But I have had several instances where the lights just will not come on without turning the switch off and on several times. This is really getting old fast. I bought the van for it's stow and go seating but I am beginning to wonder if all this is worth it.

The headlights on my 2005 Chrysler T&C minivan rarely come on when the switch is turned on. I normally have to turn the switch off, then back on 10 or more times before the lights will come on. Once, while driving the lights turned off. This has been ongoing since about June 2010. Same problem as NHTSA action number : PE10022.

Headlights fail intermittently - no apparent correlation to temperature, humidity, etc. Occurs every several weeks; low-beams and "locking" of high-beams fail....can only make emergency travel upon failure at night by holding switch assembly to passing beams. Suggests BCM versus electro-mechanical switch failure. Extremely dangerous; pursuant to NHTSA PE10-022.

The vehicle headlights go out randomly while driving and cannot be turned back on immediately. High beams still work if manually held on by pulling the high beam switch. This has occurred numerous times. Also the electric door locks fail randomly. Also the electric door locks fail randomly. Also elec windows fail randomly. Dealer always reports, unable to duplicate the problem. Also vehicle has one time totally shut down electrically while driving at 60 mph. All electric components went out and vehicle stopped running. It restarted after turning off the key and re starting. Headlight problem is the most dangerous as they just shut off randomly while driving and cannot be immediately turned back on. This is not a one time problem but a constant re-curring malfunction.

Headlights intermittently will not turn on, or will not turn off. Many times, you must turn switch on and off repeatedly before lights will turn on. They also will sometimes not fully turn off - you turn off switch, but parking lights will remain on, or lights will appear to be off, but warning chime will sound when you open the doors. Have also had lights turn off suddenly during operation, luckily never at night.

This summer, my '05 Chrysler Town and country's headlights do not consistently turn on. I have turned on and off the switch as many as 37 times before coming on. I have asked for them to be checked when getting my oil changed, they found no problem and said they worked fine. After reading that others have had the same problem and taken it to the dealership without the problem being fixed, I have not tried that route. This is definitely a safety issue.

We are having problems with the lights on our 2005 Chrysler Town & Country, they sometimes will not come on at all or they will not turn off. This has happened just about on a daily bases. There has been at least (2) occurrences when they shut off shortly after starting to drive. The only thing that seems to fix it is turning them on and off repeatedly until it corrects its self. I have had it looked but could not duplicate problem while in the shop.

2005 Chrysler Town and country - in June 2009 turn signals would not work at times. Then headlights at various times would not come on unless turned ignition on and off several times. Dimmer switch replaced. No problems for a few months. Then same problem occasionally with headlights. July 20, 2010 lights switched off and on while driving. This is extremely dangerous.

My headlights will just shut off while driving on my 2005 Chrysler Town & Country. The headlight switch does not always turn on the headlight but sometimes only the parking lights.. I am going to get it repaired this week, but its still a very dangerous situation. The blogs tell of many others with this problem.

The front passenger airbag light often comes on my 2005 Chrysler Town and country when the steering wheel is turned. I took it to the dealer when this happened the first time, and they replaced the wiring harness for the airbag, but the problem still occurs. Also, the headlamps often fail to turn on when the switch is turned. Turning the switch on and off several times usually solves the problem, but lately it seems to be getting worse.

Headlights on 2005 Chrysler Town and country shut off intermittently while driving. Also, the lights take 6 or more tries in the morning to come on. I have had about 4 mornings in the last 6 or 7 days where they will not come on initially. It is becoming a very dangerous situation that they will shut off while driving and will not come on in the early mornings. I have 2 small children and got this van to keep them safe, not put them in harms way...... please help.

Headlights won't turn on when headlight switch is turned on. From inside the vehicle, it appears the headlights are on, but if you look at the headlights they are not illuminated. To make sure the lights are on, the vehicle has to be started, the headlight switch turned on, and the driver or passenger must get out of the vehicle to visually check if the headlights are on. If they aren't, the headlight switch must be turned on and off several times before the lights will work. The headlight failure occurs about every other time the headlights are required. The dealership reprogrammed the BCM, but that did not help and they can't figure out the problem.
