Rear air conditioner went out on vehicle, the car was out of warranty, but have only used air for 3yrs now. When car was brand new opened windows as that is air conditioning enough for me at that point, now different story. But when it went out only had used air conditioner for about 2 yrs. Then to find out there was problem and they modified it but only had to replace it if wasn't working at time of voluntary recall.
