I bought my van almost 3 years ago, and the first thing I noticed that something was off was in the 2nd year I had it, the battery would drain completely and it wouldn't start. I had to have someone jump start it to fire it up and it worked temporarily, but I found out the alternator went bad on it. Got a brand new alternator and I also had the battery tested and it tested for a good charge and no problem there. That fixed the problem, or so I thought it did.
Not soon after that, when I tried to start the car in the cooler weather the battery seemed to be draining again and the only way I could get the engine to turn over was to jump start it again. It would make this clicking and shudder noise when I turn the ignition and the horn would blow 3 times and my van wouldn't start. I didn't notice the lights flash when this happens, but just my lights and radio would still be working fine and the horn blows.
I'm not a expert on cars but it seemed to me that it was a anti-theft issue since it wouldn't allow me to start my engine, but I could tell that the engine wanted to turn over and the horn blows 3 times every single time i tried to start the van. I researched any similar issues, but only came across people whom said that their engines died while driving, but no one seems to have my same exact issue as me. I think it could be a short in my wires or bad connections, just not sure if anyone can relate, but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
