My 2007 Chrysler Town & Country is having a transmission failure problem. Without warning my vehicle's transmission will slip then the check engine light will come on and the vehicle will no longer shift into it's third range. Even after I shut off my vehicle and restart it the check engine light will remain on and the computer codes all set hard. Once taken to a transmission shop everything can be reset with the mechanic resetting the computer codes. At this point the check engine light goes off and the transmission shifts properly. I have been advised by a Chrysler dealership that my vehicle is not covered under their powertrain warranty and they have not had any other reported events such as mine. My vehicle only has 35,000 miles on it and I don't feel that this is a usual failure. Something has to be wrong with the way the transmission was built.

The vehicle has been taken to the dealer three times regarding this failure. The first time, the dealer stated that the rear rotors were out of spec and they repaired the rear rotors. The second and third times, the dealer stated that the vehicle needed a software update to the transmission. The dealer has not yet created the update and did not know when it would be created. The speed was unknown. The current mileage was 2,400 and failure mileage was 4.
