The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis and the contact was informed that there was a defect, which could lead to illumination of the airbag warning light. In addition, the failure could have caused a potential inadvertent airbag deployment. The manufacturer was notified of the issue but stated that the failure was not a defect and instead was simply a fractured part. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and the current mileages were 58,000.
