Ridiculous that it's over $2000 dollars to fix a safety feature on a vehicle. This should be covered or at least be affordable for the consumer to have fixed. These vans come standard with tiny mirrors so a blind spot system is really helpful.

Shortly after purchasing our vehicle, the blind spot detection system went out. I just turned off the sensors as I did not care much about this feature. Just recently (2018), I was told that this issue may have in turn shorted out the TIPM requiring in total a $4500 fix between the two issues.

I bought the car used from a dealership and turned on the blind spot detection and the little triangles lite right up. I'm driving trying to figure out how to use them and nothing is happening. Sure enough a few days later I get notification that the feature is malfunctioning. I do a little research and see that it appears to be a common problem and didn't put the effort into trying to fix it - I'll check my own blind spots. But it is pretty annoying that a car under 40K already has problems. I found a youtube link that shows you how to fix the device that is in a poor spot and probably doesn't work due to the fact that water gets in pretty easily. But here again you need to buy the part and looking around it is over $500.

the blind spot monitoring system is a really nice safety measure to have. the problem is that when the system shuts down, it sets off a noise to inform you that the system is not functioning. in my situation the system would shut down and then activate randomly. in a recent 2.5 hour trip it went off and on probably 20 times. so I took it in to be looked at and was told that the connectors were corroded and that to fix the problem it would be $1200 per sensor for a total of $2400. Now i have dealt with this dealership for over 25 years and I do trust their service work.
Obviously I did not have them fix the problem, but my frustration is that whoever engineered such a device should have their engineering degree revoked. $2400 to fix a safety monitoring malfunction. Obviously a one and done device.

Blind spot warning lights on the side view mirrors on at all times and the blind spot monitoring system is not used. Dealer says sensors in the rear bumper are corroded, a common problem in the T&C. Replaced them and BSM system is working again. Very annoying. This needs to be a recall.

Bought the car new in early January 2012. The car had 36, 131 when taken to Quirk Chrysler for assistance. Told the cost to replace the module was approximately $1300. Tried to live with the mirror warning lights continually on. A major safety distraction. Finally took it back for replacement of module on June 22, 1916. Dealer offered no assistance on the outrageous cost of the repair.
I find it unacceptable that a garaged car several months over 4 years old with only 36,131 miles would have a major safety module fail.
After owning 3 Chrysler product vans, we and my family will never purchase another Chrysler/ Fiat product again.

Paid extra for the blind spot feature to only have it work for a few years. Should have saved my money. Can't afford the $2000+ fix. Starting to regret buying a T&C. Had to turn it off since I could not afford to have it fixed and if you don't turn it off you will continue to have the warning come on.

This is a bunch of crap - system was failing and now does not function at all. Van was expensive and as this is a known problem with this "module" Chrysler needs to stand behind their product and repair it at no charge - I would even be willing to pay some type of deductible - but I do not feel that paying 2,000 or more for repair costs on a top of the line Chrysler model is fair. I guarantee i will never purchase another Chrysler , Dodge, Ram vehicle again. I also own a Ford Fusion and Ford / the dealer stands behind their product.

Van kept dinging saying "service blind spot monitoring system". Took it to the dealership and they said the sensors up in the back bumper were bad. The service tech said "Yep, thats a common problem we see it all the time because the sensors aren't sealed properly and get corroded". If this is a common problem why is there not a recall? Very frustrating, then we find out it is over $2,000? WOW!!!

The blind spot monitoring went out just past the 3 year warranty period, even without hitting the mileage of 36,000 miles. Chrysler wanted about $1500 to fix the problem by replacing the two sensors, even when it was a known problem based on the location of the sensors. Water was getting into them and shorting them out. Just bad design and Chrysler would not fix something they knew was a problem.
