My wife had this happen (car shuts off completely while driving) several times while driving to work today. Needless to say she is terrified of driving the car now and won't drive it. It's now an expensive brick because we had to get it towed and she will not drive it. I have no idea how to get his fixed and I don't know if Chrysler is going to help us.

Update from Dec 6, 2021: The only thing I could find wrong with the car is the battery. I tested or had tested everything else and nothing showed up as being bad. The battery wasn't even completely bad, just not working great. I find it very odd that a bad battery would cause the car to stop while driving on the highway. I never thought a bad battery would cause this. However, it's my understanding that some cars act like this now, which is very troubling because a battery which is going bad should not cause a major accident. But, such is the design of modern cars now a days.

My T&C turned off mid drive down a busy highway with my family in the car. It was terrifying. All of a sudden the brakes wouldn't work the power steering shut off and my husband had to pilot the vehicle haphazardly to the side of the road.

Had it towed to the dealership. They stated to me that the battery was dead. I told them that a dead battery does not make your car turn off in the middle of driving. I insisted they recheck it. The dealership rep then swore to me the only issue they are finding is the battery after having my car 14 days. Fine. I purchased a new battery.

I get it back and I manged to drive it home and as I pulled into the driveway, the same thing happened, it just shut off mid drive. I just had it towed back to the shop for them to reevaluate because I believe it is a faulty TIPM module.

This is the 5th time my car shuts off on me while driving. This time I almost had an accident. The car shut down as i was driving, the vehicle steered to the opposite side of the road, and the steering wheel locked. Luckily i did not hit anyone. We have taken the vehicle to the Chrysler dealership 3 times. They have since updated car software and replaced the Crankshaft sensor, Crankshaft, and a wired which cost me over $400. They have kept my car for 3 days to trouble shoot but my Chrysler still has the issue. I have tried calling Chrysler but no luck. Since i live overseas they transfer me tot the international line. I live in Germany and the custumer service only speaks German. Since i do not speaks German they just hang up on me. Don't know what to do anymore.

The Vehicle Shut off while driving. All the electronic components still worked but the steering wheel began to get hard and the vehicle started to slow down to a stop. I press the gas to make the car drive but did not work, the vehicle turned off. First time this had happen while driving around 20 kilometers per hour. Once it stopped I put the car in park, turn on the car and the car turned on and kept driving. I took it to the dealership in Germany and all they did was a system upgrade which cost me about $80 and they told me, "that should fix it". But the problem was not fix and it shutdown at a later time.

The Chrysler Town and Country 2012 has died on me 4 times already and I have taken it to the dealership 2 times without any fix. Spend hours waiting only to be told to bring it back some other time. On this occasion before the vehicle shut off the engine light turned on. I noticed that the RPMs jumped a little and then 5 minutes later the vehicle shut off while driving around 20 kilometers per hour. In all the cases the vehicle has shutdown while driving at slow speeds. Luckily it has not happened while driving in the Freeway/Autobahn at higher speeds. I called Chrysler (fiat) International Care Hotline and they simply said they couldn't help me and that I had to take it back to the Dealership. I have taken it twice already and I don't want to keep taking it if they are not going to fix it but I guess I do not have a choice. I was hoping to take it today while it had the engine light on but the engine light went away. Its been frustrated driving this vehicle that randomly shuts down. I don't have a choice than to take it back to the dealership and leaving it there until they find the problem.

Second time car shutdown while driving. Wife was driving the car all of a sudden the vehicle shut off. All electronics where still on except the car. Contacted the dealership and took it back for the second time. They checked the computer and they informed us that they had not received any errors. The car shutdown driving the same speeds around 20 kilometers per hour. The mechanic took it for a drive and told us that the car had not shutdown for them. They didn't know what it was and told us to bring it back some other time versus keeping the car and troubleshooting the issue.

I was driving my 2012 Town and Country with my twin 13-month-old daughters in the back when the car suddenly stalled. I lost the steering and brakes. I was extremely grateful this hadn't occurred on the highway. The attitude of the service department was pretty casual, considering that someone could have been seriously injured, if not killed because of this problem. The tech who notified me about the cause told me it was the TIPM

(Totally Integrated Power Module), and that they didn't see many of these fail. Yet, my husband called the dealership a week later complaining about the service department taking so long to repair my car, and was told by another tech that this a widespread problem and they have a nationwide backorder on this part. In fact, this tech told my husband that he has his vehicle in the garage waiting for the TIPM part. I don' t appreciate being lied to by my dealership, and can't help but wonder if this is similar to the GM scandal with their ignitions. My car was towed into their lot on June 30, 2014 and it is now July 8 and they told my husband they would get the part by July 15.

This vehicle has been to the shop over half a dozen times since we purchased it, NEW, in 2010. This time, my "new" vehicle sputtered for a few seconds and then completely shut off. Vehicle would not restart. Had to have it towed! Dealer replaced spark plugs, at my expense and it running diagnostic testing... Had to tear engine apart and will not have it back for a few days. Don't even want the vehicle anymore. Completely unreliable and I will never buy another Chrysler again! (or Jeep or Dodge!)
