While packing the car for a family vacation, the engine compartment started to smoke and a loud "venting" noise could be heard. Upon further investigation, we found the problem only occurred with the A/C enabled. After multiple calls to local Chrysler dealerships, we finally found a dealership that had availability to drop the vehicle off. We received a call the next day that the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) was faulty and the PCM (Power Control Module) was also bad. We were told that the TIPM part was on national back order and the other part would arrive in one week. It will be 6 weeks this week and the dealership still does not have the part.
Repeated calls to Chrysler corporate Customer Care line have not resulted in anyone calling back. Since receiving the car back from the dealership, both the A/C and Defrost do not work. Since it is summer time and hot and humid, the only way to cool the car is with windows open. This poses a problem when it rains, the front windshield fogs up. Since defrost does not work, the only way to see is to wipe the window down with a towel. This becomes very dangerous when driving at 70 MPH, posted highway speed limit.
