The transmission pump and converter failed causing the transmission to lose power, slip out of gear, clunk. While pulling away from a stop sign. The transmission would whine, vibrate, clunk when put into a heavy strain like pulling a steep hill. This is the same transmission and problem as the recall. Chrysler said my VIN did not fall under the recall S44. I believe Chrysler should be held responsible knowing the transmission was faulty.

About 3 months ago my van started making noise. While I was driving. At times it would hesitate to go up hills and when coming to a light it would shake and sometimes shut off. The rpms would go crazy at times while at a stop. When turning it would shake when I would take the turn. I went to have it checked and it wasn't giving any inquiries about what was wrong. When it was diagnosed on Sept 27th it just said that the passenger door had something wrong with it. On Oct 3,2019 the check engine light finally came on. I brought it in to be diagnosed. It said it was the tcc had my appointment today for it to be fixed (October 8,2019) come to find out it was the transmission. I feel that the Chrysler should pay for this problem because the diagnostic was wrong and it took over 3 months to get a check engine light to go on. I'm on disability and live paycheck to paycheck. I am still paying on this vehicle and didnt think that in the 2 yrs. That I would be paying for a transmission at 72,000 miles. This vehicle was never on the recall list but I believe it should have been.

I have about 71000 miles and my car when pushing on the gas revved up the RPM's and would not move forward. My mechanic said my transmission fluid pump is bad. There is a recall for this exact issue for 2016 Chrysler Town and country vans manufactured when mine was however my VIN is not included in the recall. Chrysler should do the right thing and include all those affected with this issue.

I rented the van. I was at a stop sign, when crossing the van was slow/ sluggish and I saw a car coming from my left speeding and I pressed on the gas to accelerate and the van did not accelerate as expected, I thought this was due to my experience with a minivan and weight of this type of vehicle, but later realized this was a 6 cylinder and which I did have experience and recall this van not giving me the speed to cross in time yo potentially avoid the accident I had.

The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and country. While driving 35 mph, the contact attempted to depress the accelerator pedal, which failed to engage. The contact veered to the shoulder of the road, turned the vehicle off and back on, and checked the oil consumption and transmission fuel, which were normal. The contact managed to drive the vehicle to his residence where he noticed transmission fuel leaking from the transmission. The vehicle was towed by aaa to ocean Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (9 post rd, westerly, ri 02891, (401) 596-2077) where it was diagnosed that the transmission pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 16V461000 (power train). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in a recall. The contact was advised to call NHTSA to file a complaint. The failure mileage was approximately 106,230.

I was traveling westbound on the pa turnpike, going up a hill at 70 mph with cruise control on when my vehicle suddenly began losing acceleration and wouldn't shift gears. The RPM gage was going very high. I quickly disabled the cruise control and pulled over onto the shoulder of the road, not an easy feat in the midst of heavy turnpike traffic (I am thankful that I was not hit by a tractor trailer). I put the vehicle in park and put on my emergency flashers. The check engine light came on. After calling my husband on the phone, I turned off the vehicle and called interstate emergency towing to take me to the nearest Chrysler dealership about 20 miles away. The employee at the dealership noted that there had been a transmission-related recall on 2016 Chrysler Town and country minivans that were manufactured during specific months and that my minivan fell within the specified timeframe. However, at a later date I was told that my minivan VIN was not a part of the recall, even though the service department determined that there was an issue with the transmission pump which caused a loss of power (part of the initial recall problem). Please see the initial estimate that is attached. They ordered a new transmission pump, which we had to wait almost a week to come in. The day that the transmission pump arrived, my husband asked them to email him the estimate so that he could show Chrysler that our van had the same issue as the initial recall. Once the dealership learned that we were contesting the recall, they claimed that they did not have to replace the transmission pump after all. When we went to pick up the van, they said that they only had to replace the torque converter (see final invoice attached). We think that they are trying to cover up the fact that our van should have been covered and fixed under the recall, and/or they do not want the recall expanded.

I was picking my daughter up from softball practice when my vehicle stopped shifting on the highway. We were at a stop light and pushing the gas practically did nothing. The vehicle wouldn't move. Once it did move slowly it wouldn't shift. My rpms went up to 5 at one point. My husband tried to drive it to the dealership but only made it about 2 miles from our house before we'R had to call a tow truck. I have a 2016 Chrysler Town and country with less than 70K miles. I called Chrysler after discovering this was actually a recall issue. Oddly enough my VIN was supposedly not affected, however, my $4000 transmission rebuild receipt says differently. Of course Chrysler also said my warranty didn't cover this issue.

Vehicle was being driven normally. Came to stop sign at intersection with highway. As it was coming to a stop, the transmission didn't seem to want to downshift with the slowing speed. Engine speed slowed to below idle, and transmission clunked (and seemed to drop completely out of gear). As traffic cleared and the accelerator was pressed, the vehicle wouldn't move at all (forwards or reverse). Had to wave lots of other drivers past. Thankfully it was already stopped, or the outcome could have been lots worse. Dealership stated "transmission was slipping and surging. Fluid was ok. Pump pressure was low, and torque had a shudder. Transmission needs to be replaced." There is a recall for this year, make, and model for the failure of the hydraulic pump in the transmission, but this VIN is for some reason not included. Vehicle has only 67,500 miles.

The contact owns a 2016 Chrysler Town and country. While driving, the engine revved and stalled. The contact called Liberty auto city (1000 E park ave, libertyville, il 60048, (847) 362-3800) and was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty and there were no recalls. The manufacturer was emailed and offered the contact a partial reimbursement; however, the contact still had to pay $2,500 in labor costs. The manufacturer made the contact retrieve maintenance records. The manufacturer offered a little more cost assistance; however, the contact refused to pay the fees since he thought they knew about the defective transmission before he purchased the vehicle. The contact researched and found that the manufacturer lowered the warranty from 100,000 miles to 60,000 miles in 2016. The manufacturer gave the contact an ultimatum of taking the offer by July 31, 2019 or the offer would be cancelled. The failure mileage was 63,000.

Purchased van used from non-Chrysler dealer June 2018. Since owning van we have only taken to Chrysler for all maintenance work needed. After last oil change we felt the van was"acting funny". trans. Was slipping/banging into gear on up shift and downshift.(intermittently) called dealership a week after oil change to take van back to get checked out. They said we had to schedule appointment for the end of may they were to bust to get us in any sooner. On May 29,2019 the van had a awful scrapping/whistle/buzzing noise coming from trans/engine area. No warning lights. On my way home from work van would be sluggish and then all of a sudden have a surge of power*bang* into gear especially when stopped at traffic lights then trying to go again. Almost ran into car stopped in front of me. Took van to Chrysler dealer May 30th. Barely made it to dealer van had no power, loud whining/buzzing, banging into gear. Check engine light went on going to dealer. Findings by dealership trans oil pump loss of pressure. Suggesting replacing the trans. Assy. Asked them about recall for 2016/town&country trans pump" the dealer and Chrysler goodwill dept. Both said van does not have recall" and because it has 66,374 miles the powertrain warranty is over & because we didn't purchase car from the dealership they can't help us with extending warranty or goodwill for replacing the transmission assy. The dealership diagnosed our problem as the same as the recall.

While at a stop sign car stopped working. It would not start so we had a new battery put in. Then the next day while driving 60 mph on a highway lost all ability to accelerate, steer or break. Was able to restart the car a few moments later and drove a few more miles and while turning right onto a busy intersection the same thing happened. We are very lucky we were not hit by another vehicle in any of these situations!
