when utilizing the front wipers during the rain the wipers will stop working at any giving time. also sometimes when you utilize the turn signals the wipers will come on and remain in the upward stuck position. after doing vigorous research about this known issue with dodge vehicle i came across a lot of information online with dodge owners of various models. the dodge avenger forum has tons of write ups of people complaining about the issue with their wipers intermitting operation function. many write up mention the tipm/fuse panel. my question is why hasnt dodge recall vehicle that are affected by this. my concern of this is a major safety issue i have priced the tipm and this would be a very expensive repair for an out of pocket expense especially if this is something that was created at the manufacturing level of this particular part this part definitely defective issues and dodge isn't doing nothing about this.

I was driving along the freeway and the car just automatically went into limp mode. I change the oil I flush everything then when I went on to the kelly book blue book to try to sell it as saying that it had a bunch of recalls welcome to find out Chrysler saying it doesn't so I don't know what's going on with my car and neither do mechanics.

Have been having many issues with windshield wipers stop working all of a sudden and sometimes do not work for days. With no warning windshield wipers will stop in the middle of the windshield and stutter. While attempting to rotate wiper switch they may move a little and if you turn them off they will continue to stutter across windshield. Sometimes they work normal. I have been doing a lot of research and this issue is all over the internet. Chrysler apparently refuses to admit there is an issue with a faulty tipm. Today I experienced a total power failure while driving. Everything stopped working while driving....no wipers, turn signals, headlights, brake lights, instrument panel. Pulled into a parking lot after almost getting rear ended while turning. Turned car off restarted a few times and then everything started working except wipers. Someone is going to get killed if this issue is not addressed!!

Windshield wipers work intermittently, when the switch is on they will turn off and on by themselves. Fast to slow and slow to fast. Causes very dangerous driving conditions in adverse weather conditions. This happens when car is moving, obviously in rainy conditions. Most recent accurate 2-20-17 highway and city streets.

Was driving on the highway when it started to rain. Turned wipers on only to have them stutter in the middle of the windshield. They then stopped in the middle of my window, blocking my vision. I had to pull over and push them down by hand. I had to finish my 25 mile drive at about 30 miles an hour periodically getting my wipers to work. Next day I checked all the fuses and wiring and then read online the numerous reports of the same issues with my car model as well as other Chrysler vehicles over the last 5 or so years. From descriptions made and the number of cases reported I assumed there was a recall I missed, but there is not, which is shocking.

A few things have happened all pointing towards a failed/failing tipm module. The first thing we noticed was the car would stall while sitting still in rush hour/bumper to bumper traffic. Then in early 2014 the windshield wipers started turning off during snow/rain storms almost causing accidents a few times that we replaced the wipers, wiper switch and wiper motor and still have the issue randomly. Last week the horn started to randomly go off to the point that I was driving to work today and it went off and did not stop. Saw the NHTSA investigation into Chrysler tipm's so wanted to put something in because I do not see the 2008 Avenger in the lists online and this is more than likely a failing/failed. Tipm. Dealerships want $800-1000 for the replacement, rockauto, com has it for $260 ($200 core charge) $460 total to get the replacement part then return the core. I have a friend with 2006 Dodge 3500 diesel that he had to replace his tipm recently and got one from rockauto.com as well and recommended them as the go to place given Chrysler's inability to take responsibility to notify their car owners of the potential risk/hazard. I am the original owner of my Avenger and bought it new October 2007.

My issue is the windshield wipers stop working or work intermittently, which is a huge problem when it is raining. This is very dangerous. When we started looking up the issue online we noticed a lot of other people having the same issue among other issues. We first tried to replace the switch - still had the problem, then the wiper motor - still had the problem. Now we are told by the Dodge dealership that it prob. Is a wiring issue or the total integrated fuse box thing. This is $1000 at least and has to be done by the dealer because it has to be programmed. I feel this should be a recall on Chrysler part since so many people are having this issue and it is a huge safety issue.

Today, 1/3/2015, the weather was a mix of rain and snow and on my way to my destination the windshield wipers stopped working in the middle of the windshield. Then it started back up and then off again. At one point when it stopped, I could not see, the windshield was covered with the rain/snow mixture. I took the car to the dealership to be told it was the tipm. The part was ordered and today I paid only for the labor portion, $60 and when I return on Tuesday I am to pay for the part which came to $661.

I got in my car after work and noticed that my headlights automatically came on, I don't have the daytime running lights. I tried to turn them off on the control switch, nothing happened. I didn't figure out that my turn signals didn't work till I had a line of semi trucks behind me and I was needing to turn into my driveway, I live in ky so we have a lot of big trucks on the road hauling coal and gravel. I had to pass my driveway up cause I thought I was going to get hit in the rear end ( which I usually have a 5 yr old in the back seat) and had to go faster to get way ahead of the trucks so I could get pulled off the road to turn to go back home. When I get home I keep trying to get the headlight off, so I try all the controls, that's when I find out I have no wipers either. So I have no high beams with my headlights, no turn signals and no wipers, so therefore I can't drive this car to work which makes the payments on the car. Called the dealer they told me it could be of 2 things, either the controls on the steering column, which I don't see how both could go out at the same time since its 2 different controls or its either my temp which cost $600 plus labor. I don't think I'll be buying another Dodge produce, I'll stick with Chevy or GMC. They need to do a recall before they get someone seriously hurt by getting rear ended or get caught out in a rain storm!

Turn signals, dome light, windshield wipers, and running lights would not operate. Started working again the next morning. Hopefully they will not stop working during a rain storm or on a dark road. Seems this would warrant a safety recall immediately. This could be extremely dangerous!

Wipers will intermittently stop while in use. Normal and high speeds also when using intermittent mode. Has been to local dealer several times. They tell me they can't fix it till it's fully broken. Could be motor or switch. "they won't throw parts at it till it's broken" as I was told over the winter.
