This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Dodge dealer.
Two years ago I had bubbles on the leading edge of the hood on my 2008 Dodge Avenger R/T. I brought the car to the dealer, who took pics and submitted the photos to Dodge to see if repair would be made under warranty. Received authorization to have repairs made through dealer at no cost.
The body shop told me this is a frequent problem due to the way the edge of the hood is "bent under" and not sealed properly. Water gets on the underside of the hood from the engine compartment and then works its way under the inside lip of the hood. I was very pleased with the repair and noted that that body shop completely sealed the under lip of the hood.
Yesterday, I had my car washed and noticed bubbling on the back edge of the right front fender. I've had the car 3-1/2 years and it has less than 19,000 miles on it. I'm going to check with the dealer to see if this can be repaired at their cost or at a shared cost. A car shouldn't be rusting out after 3-1/2 years. I was a die hard MOPAR girl but I think I've purchased my last Dodge/Chrysler.

I BOUGHT MY CAR USED WITH 20,000 MILES IN GREAT SHAPE COVERED UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. AND A FEW MONTHS LATER I FOUND WHAT LOOKED LIKE RUST ABOVE THE PASSENGER HEADLIGHT. I CALLED THE DODGE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR USED THAT THE DODGE DEALERSHIP WOULD NOT COVER IT EVEN THOUGH THE CAR SHOULD STILL BE UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. I AM BEYOND MAD AT THE SITUATION AND WILL NEVER BUY A CHRYSLER CAR AGAIN

My 2008 avenger is bubbling with rust across the entire front of the lip on the hood. This is very discouraging, as my car is garage kept and frequently sprayed off in winter months. I'm sure i will have to cover the expense of repairs myself! This is my last dodge I will purchase!!! I've had many dodges, and this is so shameful when you purchase a new vehicle and get less than par quality.

The paint is bubbling and peeling all over the hood and front of the car, and rusting under the paint bubbles. Dodge says it's not under warranty. Looks to me like the paint wasn't coated properly, but what do I know, I'm not a car painter. Note the sarcasm. Lousy paint job. Never buying a Dodge again.

Like others I have read the hood right above the grill is rusting straight across looks like a old beat up car not a 3 year old with low miles. Contacted Dodge and was told in so many words oh well nothing we can do. When I said there are complaints all over the web the customer service rep said "you can find anything you want on the net doesn't mean it is true"

The very front of the hood directly over the passenger side headlight, the paint has blistered and starting to peel. Chrysler says this is not covered under warranty as it has not rusted completely through.
Disgusted with the paint work on this car all around.

My car is a 2008 and it should not have ANY rust yet. But..I have a small spot on the back of my car and now they just told me the rotors have rusted!! It is at the dealership as I write this....very disappointed... :-((

I contacted Chrysler about the rust on the hood. Monroe Dodge had 5 more just like it.
I worked for Chrysler for 38 years. and owned about 25 new cars. I was told that they would fix it for 1300.00. My next new car will be a new FORD or GM

In the middle of the hood where it goes down to the grill there is a spot about the size of a quarter. The rust is on top and bottom of the hood. Was glad to have a honest body man send me to the dodge place so they could have it fixed.I thought since my 36000 mile warranty was out it would be up to me to fix.Thank God my baby is gonna be fixed.

The right front of the hood on the very edge is now rusting. It has all the classic signs of a flawed undercoat/painting procedure. The paint is beginning to bubble showing an area that is rusting under the paint.
