This issue makes the car stall while driving, which makes it super dangerous this is a crash hazard, my horn also goes off randomly. I don't understand why this hasn't been recalled? is this not a safety issue where some one could get in an accident that could cause death.

The vehicle was dropped off at Momentum Dodge in Fairfield, CA on December 29 2017, today is April 20 2018 and I do not have the car back yet. Stopped my the dealership today only to get the same answer, "we don't know when we will receive the parts" All they have done is give me new dates for estimated completion, that is four months of not having a vehicle. That car is used just to go to work and back. I put about 100 miles round trip. No one has given me a straight answer as to why I don't have the car back yet. The vehicle was originally sent to the dealer because it would not start. They got the car running but then they could not get the car to go into gear. Four months later here I am with no car and no answers.

Oh, where do I begin...Well during one of the coldest days of the year, the car decided to start itself. The engine ran for about 10 minutes and then shut itself off. That should have been a clue.
Then I started having problems with the windshield wipers only working periodically. I also started to notice the headlights flickering at night as I was driving down the road. Now, the windshield wipers will stop in the middle of the windshield every time and I have to physically push them back down. That's kind of hard to do when you're on the interstate going 70 mph. Not to mention, you can't see!
I had the windshield wiper motor replaced and that didn't help the problem at all. So we replaced the switch, and they worked for a minute and stopped again. SO, the only thing left to possibly fix this problem would be replacing the TIPM. This small black box controls all electrical functions of the car, so what's next to go due to the malfunction?
Before other things start to occur as a result of this TIPM malfunction, DODGE NEEDS TO RECALL!
I've heard that other problems can occur but the windshield wipers are usually the first. Having them stop in the middle of the windshield is not acceptable Dodge! This is a safety hazard!
Dodge might as well get ready for lawsuits if there are accidents, injuries and death due to their faulty parts!

While taking my Mrs to the hospital, the air conditioning on my 2008 Dodge Avenger quit working. I thought no big deal and upon returning home I began to check the vehicle. The freon levels were within specs. The fan belt was turning the compressor. So I checked the voltage to the compressor (only 4 volts was measured from the plug). When 12 volts was applied to the compressor. The compressor engaged immediately and cold air began to flow out of the cars dash board. Knowing that further repairs would be beyond my expertise, I took the vehicle to my local Dodge Dealer(18 August 2016) with the complaint:

Finally on 16 November 2016 the car was returned to me with the a/c working after paying $1646.94.
Two days later the vehicle was taken back to the dealer with the complaint that the a/c again ceased to work. This time I was told that the TIPM needed to be reflashed. The vehicle was returned to me on 31 January 2017
Shortly after receiving the vehicle back the air bag light came on and refused to go out. I took the vehicle back to the dealer with the complaint the air bag light just started to come on. On February 6 2017 I received a call from the dealer that to fix the airbag light it would cost $410.00 for the part and $245.00 for labor. I explained I was on a limited income and couldn't afford the repairs. I was told to pick up the vehicle. The dealer invoice stated:
"85617 check for an airbag light. There is an airbag light on in the cluster. WI-TECH has been connected to the vehicle and an ACTIVE/ORC-U1415 - Implausable/Missing Vehicle Configuration Data. The TPIM/ fuse block isn't communicating with the ORC module due to internal damage. REC to replace the TIPM."
Having read some of the concerns regarding ths problem in that there is a possibility that the airbag could deploy without cause, Dodge knew or should have known about the defective TICM and the possible consequences by their failure to recall the defective part(possibility of air bag deployment with out a collision).
Update from Jun 25, 2017: Shortly after having my vehicle returned to me, the air bag icon on the dash board lit up. I returned to the Los Lunas dodge dealership and they informed me that the high dollar fuse box(under the hood) needed to be replaced. After just spending $836 to have the air conditioning fixed, now they want $700 to fix the air bag system. With a bit of luck I will never be involved in a head on colission.

Windshield wiper are intermittent and headlights pulse. I do not drive in the rain because I am not sure that the windshield wipers will stay on.

My wipers., cruise control., dash lights., do not work and I have low voltage. I can't even let my car sit overnight without it needing a boost to start... FRUSTRATING!!! After taking this to my mechanic., he tells me it's the TIPM., which is freaking expensive to replace. Now with only 140,000 km on the car. I think it's Bullshit that this module would f*ck up.,

My brake lights randomly worked. Thought it might just be a bulb. Went to repair place #1 & they told me that noting is wrong with the bulbs....Then the window wouldn't roll back up....Back to repair place #1, bad new!!! This really could have caused an accident! Cant understand why there isn't a recall

well I purchased my 2008 dodge avenger used from a used car dealership in 2013. they replaced my gas tank within a month because when I pump fuel in it continues to cut off repeatdely after only pumping 1$ at a time. needless to say its a pain but oh well the service department couldnt fix it so I have to deal...well my windows quit working they said it was a fuse but magically before I took it in they started working. the radio quit again they said the fuse which they did replace...my windows still randomly work and dont....the doors lock and unlock on their own I hear clicking sounds all the time while im driving or just getting in the car, when Im not touching anything, my car locked on a cold day while warming it uop before school. the locksmith said thats unusal these newer cars are supposed to have a sensor on them that prevents the doors from locking if the keys are in the car. I went out on thanksgiving to visit family, my car wouldnt start no matter what we tried....okay so Im just thinking maybe its electrical but I don't know if I can afford that so I guess Ive been hoping its all just craziness...but over the weekend my wipers quit working so my boyfriend decided to call a few people one of which owns a garage as well as online to find out its probably the TIPM which from what Ive read is anywhere from 800-1200 with having to pay at least 100 for them to run a test to make sure...Ive been reading about lawsuits all day, i chatted with a CMS rep from dodge they said no recall on the TIPM but I can take it to the dealer...so I called the service department at the used car dealership where I bought it they said they couldnt even look at it much less fix it. I have to take it to Dodge and pay 100$ I dont have....so all the lawsuits havent included the dodge avenger but its funny that when we googgled what will cause my wipers not to work on my 08 dodge avenger I get a list of complaints over 150 to be exact who have taken their cars to dealerships and was told not the wiper motor but the TIPM....I thinks its really strange a manufacturer makes thousands of cars on the same assembly line wit the same types of parts only had a handfull that were not working. if Im not mistaken dont they order parts in mass quantities...my concern is not whether they did it intentionally...just buck up take care of the problem I dont know about every body else but I live paycheck to paycheck and most of us pay a car payment to be able to drive that car not let it sit in the driveway, and look at I cant pay a car payment rent a car which is not covered under our insurance(only if you have an accident will it cover rental car)and pay 1200$ to get my car fixed.....

While in the middle of driving home it started to rain when wipers stopped working on the interstate. Blocked my vision and I had to pull over to move my wipers and had to drive below speed limit for over 20 some miles in rain with no wipers. Checked all the fuses and nothing was out. Then today they worked, only on high and still stutter in the middle of the windshield. Found a bunch of postings about the numerous problems with Chrysler. I haven't seen any take on this even though there are hundreds of reports.

Have a 2008 Dodge Avenger the TIPM when out. Its just annoying that this happened, and that Dodge may or may not have known about the problem. Know its money out of our pocket, and out a vehicle until it gets fixed.

The weather today, 1/3/2015, was a mix of ice and rain. I was on my way to physical therapy when the windshield wipers suddenly stopped in the middle of the windshield blocking my view. At one point I could not see out the window. Then the wipers started up again but they they would stop and start again. After PT I called several places to bring my car in to get checked. Nothing was available except for the dealership which required me to drive on the tollway to get there. I stayed in the right hand lane most of the way there in case the wipers should suddenly quit and force me to pull over to the shoulder. It was a very frightening drive especially when trucks would fly by. I breathed a sigh of relief when I exited the tollway. I explained to an employee in the service department the problem and they checked out my car. After awhile I was told that the TIPM was faulty and needed to be replaced. They told me the part would be in on Tuesday and I was given the total of what the charges would be. Going home I decided not to chance the harrowing ordeal of driving on the tollway and took the back roads. When I arrived home I looked up TIPM only to find out that Dodge/Chrysler has been aware of problems with this part. I feel Dodge/Chrysler should recall this part for all owners, it is dangerous. I only hope a recall/replacement is a solution and this won't happen again even with a new TIPM!!!

I have had my battery replaced (did not help my issues). Next I spent a couple hundred to have my "electrical ground " repaired (also still had the same issues). My original issues (that have not yet been fixed): car stalling, car unable to start, all lights on car flickering. NOW my rear lights are not working (therefore I am unable to drive this Dodge Avenger since it is an extreme safety hazard when rear lights/blinkers do not work). . The dealer says it is the TIPM that has caused all rear lights to not function anymore as well as the original issues I had. This is a $1,000 repair that I recently learn THOUSANDS of Chrysler/Dodge vehicles had had same issue with. This does not seem fair that the consumer should pay the expense, when clearly this should have been a recall item. Due to this being a widespread problem, I need this to be resolved by Chrysler Dodge to avoid further legal steps and headache.

First experienced the issue in a downpour in Michigan. The wipers stopped mid-wipe and I couldn't see out of my windshield. Nearly caused an accident!
