Avenger LX V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 64,000 miles

I have a 2008 dodge avenger and the gear 2 has gone out in the transmission. this is a three year old car and I have never had a transmission problem in a newer car. Its going to cost me 1500.00 to 2400.00 to have it fixed. I dont have that kinda of money. And my extended warranty just expired. I dont know what to do. Any advice?

Avenger SXT 2.4L 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 87,753 miles

First I would like to say I've never owned a dodge before and thought they sucked, until I bought my 08 avenger. It's been a very dependable car. So besides the whole shifter getting stuck into park, the only other thing that's been bothering me is when I accelerate from maybe first to second its like I hit a patch of ice or something. This doesn't happen every day just about once or twice a month.

Avenger 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 31,400 miles

I don't know if anyone else has had an issue like this yet but apparently at random when I slow down or begin to accelerate from a stop it seems like the car can't decide what gear to be in. I normally drive a standard and am pretty used to shifting based on the sound of the revs and think that for some reason the car is acting confused. As far as I can tell, it has the most problems going from a stop (1st) to a slow start (2nd) to the extent that it occasionally feels like a I've just run over something.
