Avenger SXT 4 cyl 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 91,503 miles

The cost I entered was above and beyond what the extended warranty covered - there was not an option to select both - we paid an extra $1K to have a rebuilt transmission instead of a used one that the ext. warranty covered. This fix only lasted about 9 months before it went out again. Don't worry, I'll enter that as a separate complaint.

I have never heard great things about Dodge, but my fiance wanted this car before we were engaged so he bought what he wanted. I have ended up being the primary driver and I HATE this car! There is always something wrong with it - have to sink $$ into the damn thing every time we turn around. Miss my '08 Toyota Corolla - now that was a reliable car!

To add insult to injury, it seems the issues with it always come at the worst possible times. This particular issue came up the very weekend we were making multiple trips back and fourth to move from Sioux Falls, SD to Lincoln, NE for me to go to graduate school. I limped back from Sioux City to Sioux Falls with this tranny barely engaging - in a thunderstorm no less. Bad luck all around!!!

Avenger SXT 4 cyl 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

This was the second time we had transmission issues with this vehicle - 9 months after replacing the transmission it got sluggish one afternoon and just quit. We had to walk home and get the pickup (for some bizarre reason our 2000 Dodge Dakota is WAY more reliable than this newer car) and tow the damn thing home.

As I mentioned in a previous complaint I HATE this car because there always seems to be something wrong with it and it goes wonky at the worst possible times. This time I was trying to get ready to leave town for a summer class out of state and we were lucky there was no out of pocket expenses on this one - covered by the extended warranty - since the trip was stretching us pretty thin at the time.
