Seems to happen twice a month. Car breaks down/loses RPM but power still there. Will start back up after an hour or 2. Have had it towed multiple times, broken down on a bridge, several times on the highway above 60mph. Has broken down at lower speeds in residential areas as well. 5 mechanics have not been able to diagnose, including the Dodge dealership.

This has been an on going issue. Occasionally when accelerating the car will stall of a second and lose all power. About 5-10 seconds after losing power it will regain power and drive normally. Whenever this happens the skid warning light comes on as well as the engine light. They'll stay on until the car is restarted. I've talked to several shops and they all say this is a problem with my PCM and the dealership will need to replace and program a new one. I've always been a Dodge fan and love their cars, but this is bullshit that a car with so few miles is giving me problems like this. I own much older cars with more miles and they've never given me issues like this one.

Was on the freeway when my check engine light went on then my car stalled. Luckily I was able to move to the side but I turned off the car and luckily it turned back on.

For the past several months, my car has been stalling. It's getting really bad now, stalling several times a day. I'm in fear of either it stalling coming off or going on a highway or even going across a bridge. I realize I have a lot of miles on my car, but the upkeep is fairly good. I have two lights on; one being a check engine light and when having this checked there was a P0335 that came up which is a crank shaft position censor malfunction and the other is a P1607 which I'm not sure what that one stands for. What I am asking does anyone know what that stands for.
After buying this car, I will not ever buy another Dodge. I'm either forever changing brakes or some other new light is coming on.

engine stalls at idle or low speed
The car has done this stalling thing for a couple of months. Its doing it more lately, and has stalled in traffic and after starting. Since Dodge fixed this issue as a software upgrade as a customer satisfaction issue in 2012 I want it done for me. I do not want to pay for this but will if I have to because its a safety issue.

After 3 years of moderate driving the Avenger stalls at lights and at times after its been idling, such as after I auto start in morning. The part that frosts me is we almost got hit in very busy intersection, did not know it stalled when light changed. It's happening more and more, we just want it fixed.

I've had the car for 8 months and have had no issues with it. Then it stalled last month while in motion. I pushed it to parking lot and started with no problem. The engine light stayed on but was off the next day. My gas light will be on every time I start it, even with a full tank and the gauge will read empty as well, but goes back up to where its supposed to be after driving for 5-10 min. It drove fine for a couple of weeks then died again, then started right up and engine light went off the next day. A week later it died again. It started right up and drove like nothing happen, with the engine light still on.
