The passenger side is blowing cold air with the heater is on. We went to the dealer, where we have the extended warranty, and they said the heater core is partly plugged & that it will need to be replaced at the cost of $1300, and that is not covered under the warranty. They are saying that there is leftover sand from the engine cast when Dodge first put the car together. The sand made its way into the bottom half of the heater core that the passenger side uses for heat. I think Dodge should pay for their mistake. I can be driving 30 or more mile and the heater on the drivers side can not keep up with the cold air.

I own a 2011 Dodge Avenger...which has no heat. It started with cold air on passenger side and now there is no heat at all, and living where its 20 below, it isn't fun driving to work in the morning. I have replaced the temp sensors, control knobs, actuator, have flushed the radiator 3X have flushed the heater core 3X. Each flushing produced sand. I don't believe I should of had to pay for this as it is the fault of Dodge!! I have never owned anything but a Dodge but this issue is making think differently about Dodge. U would think that Dodge would take care of there customers....I think Dodge should do a recall on this. If something isn't done I'm changing I believe. Sad sad sad!!!

While my 2011 Dodge Avenger is idling and slowing down it continues to stall out. It also sometimes does it while I'm driving too. I then have to put the car in park and restart it and put it back into drive in the middle of the road. There is no check engine light and no notifications under the system check dash light.

This is another complaint adding to the list of disappointed customers about the passenger side heat not working. I bought a used 2011 3.6L Dodge Avenger a week ago from a dealership. Less than 100,000 miles. Everything about this car appeared to be in great shape and working order. I checked all the vents when I initially started up the car. They were all blowing air which seemed to be a good sign..it was cold out so I assumed they all would blow heat eventually. As I'm test driving the car, the heat on the driver side cranks up. "great the heat works." I thought as I continued to test the rest of the car out..happily drove off the lot..btw I checked for recalls before buying the vehicle and contacted NHTSA and gave them the VIN# which I found 1 unserviced recall but was willing to fix on my own knowing it was covered by Dodge.....days later..my first passenger brings it to my attention that cold air was attacking them (as I sit comfortably in a reasonable temperature). So like everyone else dealing with this matter, I started to research reasons why such a thing was happening and looking for a solution. After having a couple of mechanics take a look at the car (hoping its just a blend door issue - hell of alot cheaper of a problem) it turns out it would cost me about 20% (or close to $2000) of what I paid for the car! this is not a normal problem. I have spent the same amount of time enjoying the car as I have regretting it. Unless this gets fixed (paid for) by the manufacturer I can't see how I can ever again support this brand.. I hope this complaint reaches Dodge and they do right by their customers!! - Dodge do the right thing and fix this!

I got a letter in mail Nov 2016 about a recall. They tell me they have no parts til at least June. This is a safety issue. I have a family in this car. They need to do something now or contact me and give me a new car or rental waited long enough. My car also makes a noise the company said alot of the cars do it then why hasn't it been recalled. It in the heating system. I love my car but no longer feel safe it in and will not be recommending Dodge to anyone from now on. The noise happens 24/7 car on or off. The recall is for air bag and seat belt safety that is a big deal. So why are they doing nothing to help anyone with one of these vehicles?? I worry everytime I have to drive the car and when my kids are in it if we are even safe. Recall issued in Nov 6 months ago!!!!

My car blows cold air on the passenger side of the car. I took it in January of 2016 and spent almost $1K to replace heater core and took it in again October 2016 for same issue. The repair shop told me that they would flush it really well and spoke to a Dodge dealer and it is a known design flaw but there is no fix. The best they could do was flush with mopar cleaner and replace coolant (another $200) and hope for the best. This was a fix but will not resolve the issue. I've owned the car for 3yrs and make car payments and have spent $1200 in last 9mos. Got the car back a week ago and already blowing lukewarm on passenger side and will no doubt be blowing cold by winter. Looking online it is a known issue and complaint of 2010-2012 Avengers. Why is the issue not being handled and how much do us consumers have to spend"? Dodge should stand behind their products. It's not a "safety" issue but when weather drops to 10 below and I'm literally freezing... how is this not a safety issue? how much more am I going to have to spend" I can't afford constant repairs for same issue. Fix the issue so I can love my car again.

There was an exhaust leak under the driver's seat which caused me (only driver) to become very very sleepy. I was in the car for 5-10 minutes when I felt the sleepiness. I had to open windows for fresh air in order to make it to work (20 min. Drive) without having to pull over. The sleepiness started about 3 weeks before it became really bad. I was on a 4 hour trip & after an hour I had to repeately pull over, one to sleep for about 30 minutes. At the time I did not make a connection with what was happening. I attributed the sleepiness to being tired but after the third day of serious sleepiness, I thought there had to be something with the car because it only happened in the car although there were several days that I was abnormally sleepy at work in the morning hours. I believe that was a carry over from the trip to work each morning.there is a vocational school in the public school system where I work so I took it to the teacher of the mechanic's class. They have a machine that shoots smoke through the exhaust system & there was smoke coming through a crack in the exhaust pipe located directly beneath the driver's seat. I went to the doctor for a blood test to make sure I did not have any carbon monoxide in my system. The results showed me at a level 1, the range is from 0-2. the mechanics repaired the leak with a special puddy. The drive to work everyday is a twenty minute drive each way on a four lane highway. The first incident was April 23, 2016. The other incidents were the week of May 16th. I was exposed to the fumes for about three weeks before it became really bad.

The heat from the passenger side does not work. The air works great, but no heat. This was just noticed a couple of weeks ago. I took the car to the dealer that I purchased it from and the cost will be $1,002.80. I feel this should be something that is fixed without me having to pay so much. I have only had the car for 1 year. I have read that there are several people that have the same problem. Should be a recall................

My 2011 Dodge Avenger heat has a heating problem. The passenger side heat/defrost only blows cold air. I put the fan on high and still only cold air. When warming car up with remote start the car is not warm after 10 to 15 minutes causing the passenger side windshield to not defrost. I drive 50 miles one way to work and am freezing when I get there. I have seen forums where this is happening to many other people.

Passenger defrost blows cold air which means it is not clearing the windows in inclement weather. The frosting of windows has created safety issues for me because on a busy road I have almost had an accident.
