This is the second Dodge Avenger I have had that has this issue. The heater will start blowing cold air out on the passenger side. I have been told on both cars by the dealership that this is a heater core issue. That the wrong size heater core was installed and welded to fit. Then after so many miles this jweld breaks loose causing sludge and buildup that causes the heater to blow cold air on passenger side. This is a major safety concern when in the midst of winter. When driving in inclement weather, that sleet, ice, or snow begins to accumulate on the passenger side of the windshield and window. How Chrysler can get away without calling a recall is beyond me. Every site I go to on this matter has a multitude of complaints regarding this safety issue. It will cost me $2500 out of pocket to get this "fixed". I use this term loosely, because it is not a permanent fix. The dealership can only repair the weld as the heater core is not the right size, meaning that it could potentially break loose and sludge up again. Chrysler needs to take ownership of this issue and make it right to those of us who have been loyal customers!!!

I noticed that my coolant didn't look right while servicing the car. Found a bunch of sludge in the cooling system. Come to find out its a problem with all 2012 Avengers due to a faulty radiator.

2012 Dodge Avenger has heater core, radiator and radiator cap problems. The system accumulates sludge and all at once radiator is dry.
Cost to repair around $2100.00. Chrysler unable to help because not recalled. Can't trust it now for trips. I do not think I need to pay for a defect that is primarily theirs. If you own a 2012 Dodge Avenger please have it checked and get the complaint into Chrysler.
