problem #1

Apr 072008

Caliber SXT 2.0L

  • CVT transmission
  • 36,000 miles

I was one the first to have this problem. I what all to know that the brake override does not work as they claimed. Yes, the brake does slow the car. However, the only way to stop the car is to shift to neturaland or turn the key off or hit something. (avoid the last one by doing one of the others!) Car has safety item if you turn off key, stering wheel does not lock unless car is in park so this will work just remember you will loose power stering and brake if you choose this way. I feel that the replacement pedal does fix the problem! The new pedal mite last longer / more miles, but the design will fail, brass press into plastic with no retaining plate or clip will FAIL !!!

Keep your eye open for a new recall and remember how to get control of the car.
