As of today, Nov 2, 2015, the fuel pump has gone out for the second time. I replaced it myself back in 2013 after the wiring harness smoked out and melted. The car left my girlfriend stranded all the sudden without any warning. We had to tow it to a Dodge dealer to find out what had happened. That cost me $100.00 for them to tell me the fuel pump went out. They also told me that I was going to have to pay around $650.00 to have it replaced. I paid them the $100 and towed it home. I ordered the same pump from rockauto.com for around $120 but supposedly the harness is a "dealer only" item and can't be purchased. Being an electrician I soldered the wires on and used a 10 amp fuse for additional protection. It's lasted two years and now it's gone out again. WTF? This tells me there is a major electrical problem Dodge is keeping from us! There is something definitely going on....I will never buy another Dodge as long as I live and 3 people in my family have already traded their junk Dodge cars as well since all this sh*t. Hope this helps and I hope these issues get resolved before someone burns alive.

This problem should have been recalled by now. You can search just bout any forums and find people with this same issue. Really Dodge I could of died electrical fire, gas tank. Wow. And when I called they acted like they could of cared less. Still have not heard a thing back other than a customer satisfaction survey.

I've been having all sorts of electrical problems with this car, but this was scary.. My wife, the daily user of this car, had told me she noticed erratic behavior of the car every time she filled up the gas. Well, some time got by and she got stuck, she managed to reach her destination but when she was about to return back the car would not start, long story short, after all tests pointed to the fuel pump so I took out the seat to check for power at the pumps assembly plug and the power was OK, but I did noticed a corroded and burnt pin of the plug. So I took my pump out to look at it and to my surprise the inside part of the plug (Inside the the tank!!) was completely burnt as you can see in the pictures. It made me wonder of the risks of fire and explosion inside the tank. So I did some research and found out that this is pretty common issue with this model and that the Manufacturer, even though there is a risk of fire, never recalled or at least publish a warning notice.
I guess is what I get for buying a car that this page clearly rated as POS!! My bad...

I kept smelling something that smelled like burning wires in my car, then one evening I was leaving the office and my car would not crank. It would turn over like it wanted to start but wouldn't. When I got it to the mechanic I was informed it was my fuel pump which cost me close to $1000 to fix. When the mechanic called me back he said the fuel pump connector had melted and look like it tried to catch fire.
The fuel pump is under my back seat which doesn't make me feel any safer especially since he said it could and would most likely happen again. The worst part is I have searched all over the internet trying to find a recall and there have been no recalls by the manufacturer. I can't believe as many people as I have seen that has had this problem there still hasn't been a recall!

Recently my car started to not turn over when the key was turned in the ignition, it would eventually turn back on, but then one day it didn't turn on at all. After towing it to the mechanic, I was told and shown the electric wiring plug shorted out on the vehicle which is under the rear seat. Then causing the fuel pump to go out. The worst part is IT CAN HAPPEN AGAIN!!!! The mechanic has seen this problem in multiple Calibers that include more than the 2007 models. Dodge has done nothing but file the complaint and say it must happen again before they will consider the issue.

The engine light came on. I had a diagnostic test done on it and nothing showed up. My car failed to start and found out it was the fuel pump and the wiring melted. This is the 4th issue this year with the 2007 Dodge Caliber. Why can't there be a recall for this problem????
