While inspecting the rear undercarriage area for possible DIY rear struts replacement, noticed severe rust/corrosion on the rear suspension cross-member. Shocked and upset with the large amount of corrosion because I'm now unsure what to do - fix or get rid of the car? I was even more disappointed when I uncovered online that this is an ongoing issue with the Dodge Caliber, and there was a service bulletin issued years ago that I'm sure that I no longer qualify for. I'm just disappointed in Dodge!

my wife called sterling heights Michigan dodge service center to ask about a recall on the crossmembers. they told her there wasn't one. repeatedly she called back and was told the same thing. the people there in customer service were and are extremely rude. if you don't believe me call them and see for yourself. she called back again because we heard there was a problem with the crossmembers rusting out, finally a person in the customer service department said there was a problem but that it wasn't called a recall. she asked what it was called and what she needed to do to get it fixed. they told her what it was called and then told her the time dodge would pay to fix it expired a month earlier. we figured it must not be important and let it go. until my mother, brother, uncle, and sister had to have theirs fixed. so I called and asked if they could help me and was to bad. I'm not sure what happened to customer service at dodge and Chrysler, but I will be telling everyone I ever meet online and throughout friends and family that if you buy their cars don't expect good service!
