The instrument cluster has done this before off and on but this time seems to be permanent. I have seen multiple complaints that there is a bad soldier joint on the instrument cluster circuit board where the main plug is attached. It would seem that this is an issue that Dodge knows about and should have corrected with a recall. It can be repaired if you are handy with tools and have a soldiering gun. Just re-soldier the connections where the main plug is attached.

The instrument cluster has went out before on and off, always coming back on usually the next trip. This has not happened too often. This time it's been almost 2 days and still has not come back on. So I did some research online and found that this is a BIG problem in Dodge vans...not just the 1998 like I have. Sounds like it is a simple soldering problem if you are able to do it yourself. However, if you can't do it yourself, garages want to charge anywhere from $300 to $700 (as posted on numerous sites including the dodge forum). So why can't Dodge do a recall on this if it is such a simple fix and something so common?
