The valve guides on all 3.0L V6 engines, all are produced by Mitsubishi, are notoriously weak. They will fail between 100,000 and 150,000 miles. I have had two of these engines ('94 and '98 Caravans) and have had the same problem with both. The first time I thought it was just an anomaly. Considering that the heads need to be replaced at a cost of about $2000 and the advanced design and quality control that the auto industry has, this is inexcusable to have an engine in production this long and not correct the problem.
Given Chrysler's similar history of transmission problems (and disregard to correcting the design) and their lack of customer support for this bad design, I will never buy another Chrysler product again.
