On cold mornings my car wasn't going into gear. It had to be warmed up before being able to drive. Dodge recommended a transmission filter and fluids change w/a diagnostic. Instead of bringing into Dodge I brought it in town to North Jersey Transmission Center to get this job done (to save a 1/3 of the cost) and I had no problems with it going into gear since. However, I went into Dodge two days later for an oil change and they noticed transmission fluid was leaking. Originally, they were blaming the Transmission Center, but find out the leak was actually from the transmission solenoid and some of the transmission lines were leaking. If this problem was not found (which was very well possible b/c there was no fluid on my driveway where I park) as soon as it was, I was told the transmission would have went. At the time of purchase I was only given a 3 year, 36000 mile warranty and an extended warranty purchase was around $1000 additional if I wanted (which I didn't get). I now have a 57,200 miles and is no longer under warranty. But this is definitely a problem that should NOT have went wrong, especially this early in the cars life. So, far, with no avail have I got Dodge to pay for any part of this service. What makes me even more made is the labor costs for a 3 hour job compared to the parts cost!! If my transmission would have went (like my brothers 2002 Town & Country), their would have been real hell to pay. If you check out other sites -- you'll find that Dodge, Plymouth & Chrysler (which are all the same and are Chrysler owned) have major transmission problems and Chrysler has yet to do anything about this!! This will be the last one I own, unless Chrysler reimburses my money for this job.
