Caravan 3.3L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 180,000 miles

I bought 2003 Dodge Carvan. The dealer show me A/C worked. When got extremely hot the A/C stop working Seems he did some quick fix A/C suction line which wore off. He told me Dodge was recalling The Caravan and wait till it official and he do repair free. I got back alley mechanic who blocked of rear evap system. However he did quick fix to suction line which wore off. Now have A/C in front or rear. I called Dodge /Chrysler and they said they know and suggest I do not buy another Caravan.

Caravan V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 52,000 miles

In the Summer of 2007, my 2003 Dodge Grand Caravan's A/C Compressor went. When I took it to the dealer, they said that it would cost over $600 to fix. At the time I couldn't afford it so I dealt with the sweltering heat in the car along with my three children that summer. The two following summers, the heat wasn't so brutal so I didn't really need to use the air. This summer started out really brutal with the heat wave. Mind you, the only way to get air in the car is from the driver side and passenger side window. That's it!! Not much air getting in the back to the kids. So I decided to try and call Dodge to find out if there had been any recalls or any known faulty parts that were installed in the '03 Caravans. Of course, they denied everything and said that there is nothing they can do for me at this time. I also got hold of a really nasty customer service agent who didn't want to listen to anything that I had to say and also kept reading from a script. I asked to speak to a Supervisor and he said that if I didn't want to listen to what he he had to say then he was going to have to terminate the call. I still haven't heard from a supervisor and am convinced that for some reason Dodge/Chrysler wants me to purchase a new vehicle. That is why they install faulty parts in their cars that only last for three years or less. They don't want to take any kind of responsibility for their faulty parts. My gas pedal has also gotten stuck a few times with the kids in the car and of course when I mentioned that, they said that they haven't had any recalls on that either. Of course...why would they. I would like to find out who designed the '03 Caravans to find out why they would install parts in a family vehicle that is not safe. This is my second Caravan that I have owned. In the first year of me owning my first Caravan, the head gasket blew and I had to pay 525 to get it fixed. When I called Dodge/Chrysler to complain about it, they sent me a reimbursement check for 525. They knew that it should not have happened and that they installed a faulty part causing the gasket to blow. I want them to own up to their mistakes or they are going to end in the same boat with Toyota.
