The power door locks suddenly quit working on my 2005 Caravan. After looking at the internet I discovered that this is a common problem with this van and Dodge knows about it. This issue needs to have a recall issued to make Dodge fix the problem. Not having door locks is very dangerous with today's rampant crime.

Power doors ceased to work. Technical advise was requested and it was told to me that a possible upgrade to the bsm would correct this problem. Dealer is charging $180 for this upgrade which in my opinion is a safety issue since children may open these doors or may open as well.

My 2005 Dodge Caravan door locks have stopped working. I took the van to the dealer and they completed a fix that did not last 24 hours but it cost me $100. When we took it back they billed me another $100 to say that I needed the BCM replaced at a cost of $400. In doing my research I see that this most likely would not fix the problem. I feel it is very dangerous the only way to unlock the van is to go to the drivers side where there is a key entry point. God forbid if my family is ever in the car and I can not enter from the drivers side ajd the doors are locked.

My wife, 2 young sons, and I went out to spend the afternoon running errands. When we left our home, the door locks worked with the keyless entry system as well as with the switches inside the car. After making our second stop of the afternoon, my wife noticed that the door locks were no longer functioning. They failed to work via key chain, switch, or speedometer override (when car reaches 20 mph). Compounding the issue, the Caravan only has one outside door lock, which means the car can only be manually unlocked at the driver side door. The remaining doors must be unlocked from the inside. This means that someone must climb throughout the vehicle's interior to let other passengers in. As I mentioned earlier, I have 2 small boys and it is extremely frustrating, not to mention dangerous, to have to leave them standing beside the car while my wife or I climb about the interior to unlock the passenger doors so as to gain access to their car seats. Over the last year, I have taken my vehicle to the dealership to have this same problem addressed on five separate occasions. The longest this problem has remained resolved is thirteen months. Each time the dealership has replaced the body control module. Today will be the sixth occasion I have had the same problem with my door locks.

Defective sway bar at 28,000 miles-dealership stated it is normal with this year of Caravan & that I don't have to have replaced lights would not shut off or turn on with manual operation - when the vehicle is off for a long time the lights turn on for no reason at all. We have replaced the lightbulbs on 3 different occasions fuse keeps on blowing in engine at 32,000 miles, 34,000 miles and 39,050 miles. Electronic windows, door locks, automatic side door no longer operate at 41,000 miles. Excessive corrosion around battery every 4,000 miles paid to have cleaned 5 times and they say my battery is fine other than the corrosion build up.

I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan. The locks, including the child safety locks have quit working. I must manually lock my doors including both sliding doors. My children are able to unlock these sliding doors and open them while traveling. Because this poses a huge danger for the safety of my children, I feel that Dodge should rectify this defect.

The contact owns a 2005 Dodge Caravan. She was unable to open or close the sliding door using the remote control. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The dealer inspected the vehicle on three occasions. However, they were still unable to diagnose the failure. Six months later all of the lights on the instrument panel were not operating normally. The dealer stated that the body modular control needed to be replaced. A year and a half later she experienced the same failure. The dealer was unable to diagnose the failure. The failure mileage was 800, and the current mileage was 17,000.

: the contact stated when the vehicle was in gear, the rear sliding doors cannot be opened from the inside. This was the way the vehicle was designed. The contact express concern that in the event of an accident with the driver unconscious, the occupants including children would not be able to exit the vehicle.
