Rack and pinion was leaking fluid when we first bought the van. Left it for years, eventually replaced it with a jobber part. Started leaking again within 2 months... now I just change out the cardboard under the van and top up the reservoir every once in a while.

Caravan SE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 22,000 miles

Took my van to service and they noticed the leak on the rack and pinion they reported to Chrysler and they denied because the warranty expired 3 weeks ago, after one hour on the phone they finally accepted to cover only the 60% two months later I decided to go with my friend who is a BMW certified tech to inspect a squeaky noise in the lower part of the engine and he noticed that they left the power steering belt loose and they forget a bolt from the power steering heat deflector and there is more to go!

Another Dodge in our family that has disappointed us. Our first was a 1995 caravan that ended up with a new transmission and timing chain when the mileage was around 50,000. And as ashamed as I am to admit, we bought another one in 2005. Always have had issues with the replacing of the brakes. Both vans. Last week I took it in for a wheel alignment and was told they couldn't because my rack and pinion is leaking. This is it!!!! Never will I own a Chrysler product. I was so pissed that I called the 800 number just to vent. Low and behold....guess who answers for the Chrysler company but a woman in India. And they try to make us feel guilty if we don't buy American??????????? Piss off.....My next purchase will be with a company that will stand behind its product, has a good reputation, and will not break down before it's even paid off. Hmmmmmmmmmm..........wonder why their having financial problems?
